Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor.
Hi Taylor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started cosmetology school, in high school. We had a trade school program called BOCES in upstate NY. I went my junior and senior year. After I graduated I moved to Virginia and worked in a salon for 5 years, while in that salon I was able to go to NYC and do hair for NYFW for a couple years. Then I moved down to North Carolina and Covid happened and I worked at a few salons in the area before deciding to stop doing hair for about 8 months. In that 8months I helped breed and sell ball python snakes fully. Then I decided to come back to hair, because being home is not all that fun in my opinion. So I started working at prickly pear salon, and was able to get back on track with future goals. I did hair on models for Charlotte seen week and I just completed my educator training to become a travel educator for Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia with the product line EVO.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, nothing is a smooth road to get to where you want. Struggles from Covid to figuring out how to reach my goals in my career and where I want to be. It’s hard when a lot of people don’t want to see you succeed. Especially those closest to you.

I’m a hairdresser at prickly pear salon! Been doing hair for 12years now. I’m known for vivid/fashion colors, color corrections, gender affirming haircuts, and curly haircuts. What I’m most proud of is also what sets me apart. I’m creating a safe space for my clients, where they can express themselves and be who they are and I get to make that happen by doing their hair for everyone no matter gender.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Yes, my biggest supporters are my boss Laura and my manager Kayla! They have been there to keep me on the right track! Laura is someone who’s always in my corner to help me advocate my wants and needs. While Kayla is there to help push me along!
