Meet Noah Smith of CoWorx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Smith.

Hi Noah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got involved with CoWorx at a pretty young age. I had been working in the IT space for a few years, including time with Apple and running my own company, and I was always drawn to systems, infrastructure, and how businesses operate behind the scenes.

In 2022, the opportunity came up to take over CoWorx, and I jumped on it. At the time, I was 20, and the space already had a foundation, but there was a lot of work to be done to stabilize and grow it. I leaned heavily on my technical background to improve things like network infrastructure, systems, and overall reliability, while also learning the ins and outs of running a physical space and managing a community.

Since then, it’s been a constant process of refining, improving, and building something that people actually enjoy being a part of. CoWorx has grown into more than just a place to work. It’s become a hub for small businesses, creatives, and people looking for a sense of structure and community outside of working from home.

Alongside CoWorx, I’ve expanded into real estate with Arth Real Estate Group, which ties closely into what we’re building. It’s given me a broader perspective on development, property management, and how spaces like CoWorx fit into a larger ecosystem.

At the end of the day, it’s been a lot of learning by doing. I didn’t come into this with everything figured out, but I’ve stayed focused on building something that’s functional, welcoming, and constantly getting better.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Taking over a business at a young age comes with a steep learning curve, especially when you’re figuring things out in real time. There were moments early on where I had to make decisions without having much experience to lean on, and that can be uncomfortable.

On top of that, running a physical space like CoWorx means you’re dealing with a lot of moving parts. Operations, maintenance, technology, community, and finances all intersect every day. There’s always something that needs attention, and you don’t really get to pause.

One of the bigger challenges has been balancing growth with stability. It’s easy to want to move fast and make big changes, but I’ve learned that consistency and reliability matter just as much, if not more, to the people who use the space every day.

There have also been personal challenges. Learning how to lead, communicate, and manage relationships while building something at the same time has been a process. You make mistakes, you adjust, and you keep going.

Overall, it hasn’t been smooth, but that’s also where most of the growth has come from.

We’ve been impressed with CoWorx, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
CoWorx is a coworking space and private office community based in Wilmington, with locations in the Cargo District and on Castle Street. At its core, we provide flexible workspaces for freelancers, small businesses, and teams who want something more structured and intentional than working from home.

What we really focus on is creating a space that feels consistent, reliable, and easy to use. That means fast and dependable internet, clean and well-maintained environments, and systems that actually work the way people expect them to. A lot of that comes from my background in IT, where I learned how important it is for things to just function without friction.

At the same time, CoWorx isn’t just about desks and offices. It’s about the people in the space. We’ve built a community where creatives, business owners, and remote workers naturally interact, share ideas, and support each other. That balance between structure and community is what sets us apart.

We also take a slightly different approach with how we design and operate. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, we’ve focused on building spaces that reflect their surroundings. The Cargo District location has a more open, creative energy, while the Castle Street location leans into a more private, long-term office environment.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is how authentic CoWorx has remained as it’s grown. It hasn’t turned into something overly corporate or disconnected. It still feels local, personal, and connected to Wilmington.

What I’d want readers to know is that CoWorx is a place built for people who take their work seriously but also want to enjoy where they spend their time. It’s a space designed to help people focus, connect, and create in a way that feels natural.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that consistency matters more than big moments.

Early on, it’s easy to focus on growth, big ideas, or major changes, but what people actually remember and rely on is how consistent you are day to day. Showing up, keeping things running smoothly, maintaining the space, and being dependable goes a long way.

I’ve also learned that you don’t need to have everything figured out to move forward. A lot of this journey has been learning by doing, making decisions with the information I have, and adjusting along the way. You gain clarity through action, not by waiting for the perfect plan.

And probably the biggest one is that people come first. The space, the systems, and the business all matter, but at the end of the day, CoWorx works because of the people in it. Taking care of that and building something that genuinely supports them has been the most important thing.
