Life & Work with Dylan Jaymes of Lexington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Jaymes.

Hi Dylan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got my start in creating photos & videos in my teenage years. I took a photography class & really enjoyed creating interesting compositions. It was also the time of Jackass & CKY so obviously my friends & I filmed all of our activities from skateboarding & snowboarding to just chaos that teenagers find themselves in. After a long stint of “professional” jobs such as architecture draftsman to petroleum senior operations I finally found my way back to pursuing photography & video as creative outlet. That got me into marketing videos for local businesses.

In 2023 I met Michael Wright (Felonious Falafel) after he reached out wanting to record a web series for YouTube. Since then we’ve been building a more narrative based media company which now encompasses creating short films, movies, series, & 2 podcasts that have charted on Apple Podcast Lists.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing is ever a smooth road. We usually have to work through shifts & changes in the social media space as they continuously move goal posts along the way. Since a lot of our income comes directly from content monetization it can fluctuate quite a bit. That is one of the reasons we have really put a lot of effort into building the community around the podcast. Our audience there is very enthusiastic & loyal. It’s growth continues to be consistent & gives us hope for a steady growth path instead of the whims of social content creation.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have a background in video production & photography. In pursuing that I developed great marketing skills paired with the storytelling aspect of it. After spending a decade building that side of things it has been a consistent push towards more creative pursuit of narrative based projects.

Michael Wright is a comedian & content creator that has built a large & loyal fanbase across multiple platforms. His humor really connects with working class people & brings them light heartedness to their work woes.

Teaming up with Michael Wright has created a power duo where we can really leverage our creativity to fully support our families while also pursuing our creative dreams. Through the podcast & the film projects we keep growing into the next project day after day.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest thing is that nothing good truly comes quickly. It takes time & work but most folks give up before they start receiving the payoff. If it was easy everyone would do it. It doesn’t have to be hard but a lot of times it will be hard & you just have to do your best to keep your eyes towards where you’re heading instead of focusing too hard on the current obstacle that makes you want to “give up”.
