Hidden Gems: Meet Shanae Foxx of Shanae Foxx Consulting, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanae Foxx.

Hi Shanae, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into coaching, consulting, and speaking is rooted in both my professional background and the foundation I was raised on.

I grew up in a family where service was not just encouraged, it was lived daily. My parents, Billy Foxx and the late Brenda W. Foxx, were deeply active in ministry and community involvement. Through them, I saw firsthand what it looked like to pour into others, show up for people, and lead with compassion and purpose. I also watched my grandmother serve as what I understood to be a pillar in the community, someone people trusted, leaned on, and respected. Those early experiences shaped my perspective and instilled a strong sense of responsibility to serve within my siblings and me.

That foundation carried into my professional journey. I began my career in public health, where I worked closely with individuals, families, and communities. That experience gave me a clear understanding of how life circumstances, leadership, environment, and mental well being all connect. I saw how stress, burnout, lack of support, and limited resources impact not only individuals, but also families and organizations.

Over time, I realized that while systems and programs are important, people also need space to be heard, supported, and developed on a personal and professional level. That realization led me to expand beyond traditional public health roles and step into coaching, where I could work more directly with individuals and leaders.

Through that transition, I founded Shanae Foxx Consulting, LLC. My work focuses on professional and life coaching, leadership development, and speaking engagements for individuals, organizations, and community groups. I have had the opportunity to facilitate sessions for corporate teams, partner with community based organizations, and create spaces where people can grow both personally and professionally.

What matters most to me is keeping my approach practical, relatable, and grounded. I focus on providing real tools, structured guidance, and support that people can apply in their everyday lives.

Today, my work sits at the intersection of public health, leadership, and personal development. Whether I am coaching a client, facilitating a group session, or speaking at an event, my goal is to help people feel supported, equipped, and empowered to move forward with intention.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road, and I think that is true for most meaningful journeys.

One of the biggest challenges has been building something of my own while navigating uncertainty. Transitioning from structured roles into entrepreneurship required a shift not just professionally, but mentally. There were moments of questioning, moments where I had to trust the process without immediate results, and moments where consistency had to carry me when motivation was not enough.

Another challenge has been balancing purpose with sustainability. I have always had a heart for serving communities and making my work accessible, but at the same time, I had to learn how to value my services, set boundaries, and operate as a business. That balance between impact and income is something many service based entrepreneurs have to work through.

There have also been challenges tied to visibility and growth. Putting yourself out there, sharing your voice, and building credibility in spaces that may not immediately recognize your value takes confidence and persistence. I have had to be intentional about showing up, even when it felt uncomfortable.

At the same time, I have experienced the realities that come with the work I do. Supporting others through stress, burnout, and life transitions requires emotional capacity, so I have had to learn how to take care of myself while continuing to show up for others.

Through all of it, what has kept me grounded is the foundation I was raised on and the impact I know this work has. Every challenge has helped me grow, refine my approach, and become more intentional about how I serve.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Shanae Foxx Consulting, LLC is a professional and life coaching and leadership development organization rooted in service, practical growth, and real life application.

At its core, my work focuses on helping individuals and organizations bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be, both personally and professionally. I specialize in leadership development, professional and life coaching, and speaking engagements that center on topics such as confidence, burnout prevention, emotional intelligence, communication, boundaries, and overall personal growth.

I work with a range of audiences, from individuals seeking direction and alignment, to corporate teams, community organizations, and churches looking to strengthen leadership, improve engagement, and support the well being of their people. My sessions are interactive, structured, and grounded in real world application, not just inspiration.

What sets me apart is my ability to connect professional development with real life experiences. My background in public health allows me to approach coaching through a broader lens, understanding how mental well being, environment, and lived experiences impact how people show up in their personal and professional lives. I also create spaces that are both supportive and accountable, where people feel heard, but are also challenged to grow.

A key part of my approach is creating environments that feel safe, welcoming, and engaging. I intentionally design experiences that blend coaching with interactive and enjoyable activities, making personal and professional growth feel approachable rather than overwhelming. My goal is to ensure that participants are not only learning, but also actively involved and comfortable in the process. I also remain mindful of accessibility, offering experiences that are affordable and inclusive so more individuals and communities can benefit from the work.

In addition to my coaching and speaking services, I am the author of two guided journals available on Amazon, starting at $16, designed to support continued growth beyond sessions:
• Leadership Within is a guided journal focused on helping individuals develop self awareness, strengthen their leadership identity, and lead with intention. It is ideal for emerging and established leaders who want to deepen how they show up both personally and professionally.
• Empowered Within is a guided journal created specifically for women, centered on confidence, self worth, and personal growth. It uniquely weaves together guided reflections, personally written poetry by me, and scripture based encouragement to create a meaningful and grounded experience. It is designed for women who are navigating life transitions, rebuilding confidence, or seeking deeper insight, healing, and direction.

Both journals provide structured prompts, reflection exercises, intentional goal setting and weekly planning, positive mindset shift exercises towards daily gratitude, and practical guidance to help individuals apply what they are learning in real time.

I am known for being relatable, practical, and intentional. I do not believe in surface level motivation. I focus on providing tools, strategies, and guidance that people can actually use beyond the session. Whether I am working one on one, facilitating a group, or speaking at an event, my goal is always to leave people with something they can apply immediately.

Brand wise, I am most proud of the trust and consistency I have built. From community based events to corporate sessions, my brand reflects a commitment to showing up with excellence, authenticity, and purpose. I have been honored to receive recognitions such as the Triad Woman of Impact Award through the American Heart Association, the Hidden Figures Triad Crown Leadership Award, and being recognized as a West Chatham NAACP 40 Under 40 honoree. I have also been featured in FORCE Magazine, highlighting my work on a global platform. While those honors are meaningful, what matters most to me is the impact behind the work.

I want readers to know that my brand is about more than coaching sessions. It is about partnership. It is about creating space for growth, providing structure and accountability, and helping people move forward in a way that aligns with who they are. Whether someone is navigating a transition, developing as a leader, or simply trying to gain direction, my work is designed to meet them where they are and support them in getting to the next level.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I have so many, but the memories that stand out most are the ones centered around family. They are truly at the core of who I am and what I do today.

Some of my favorite moments are the simple, joy filled ones. Sneaking around trying to see what Christmas gifts my parents were putting together, and my father playfully chasing us around with pepper, joking that he was going to put it in our eyes. Of course he never would, but at the time it had us laughing and running every time.

I also cherish traveling with my mother to her speaking engagements and singing alongside her and my sister in our gospel group, Two Generations. Those experiences gave me early exposure to both ministry and being in front of people, which has carried into my work today.

Spending time with my grandmothers, being surrounded by love, and growing up with cousins who felt more like siblings are memories I will always hold close. My parents, who also served as my spiritual leaders as Pastor and Elect Lady, poured so much into us. They made sure we were grounded in faith, values, and a strong sense of who we are. They provided us with something no one could ever take from us.

When I reflect on my childhood, I realize how rich it was. I was surrounded by people who loved us deeply, protected us, and made sure we understood our worth. That foundation continues to shape how I show up in my life and in the work that I do.
