Exploring Life & Business with Karma Banks of Good Karma Botanica & Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karma Banks.

Hi Karma, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story began long before I ever opened the doors to Good Karma Botanica & Wellness. I grew up in foster care and experienced a lot at a young age, including instability, trauma, and the kind of pain that can either break you or push you to become someone new. For a long time, I was carrying wounds that I had not yet fully named, but even in the midst of that, there was always something in me that was searching for healing, truth, and deeper meaning.

Over time, I began to transform my pain into purpose. My own healing journey led me to herbalism, Reiki, sound healing, spiritual practice, and a deeper understanding of ancestral wisdom. What started as a personal journey became something much bigger. I realized that healing was not just something I needed for myself. It was something I was being called to share with others.

That calling led me to create Good Karma Botanica & Wellness, a space where people can come for herbs, teas, spiritual tools, Reiki, tarot, and support for their healing journey. I also founded Woman Recreated, which was born from my desire to support and empower women affected by trauma. Everything I do is rooted in lived experience, compassion, and a real understanding of what it means to rebuild yourself from the ground up.

I am also an author, and writing my book Mind Traveling gave me another way to tell the truth about my journey and give voice to experiences that so many people carry in silence. Today, I wear many hats, but at the core of it all, I am someone who chose to heal, chose to grow, and chose to help others do the same. I got where I am today by trusting the process, believing in myself and my vision, honoring my ancestors, and refusing to let my past define the limits of my future.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. My journey has come with a lot of challenges, both personal and professional. I grew up in foster care, so my life started with instability, trauma, and a constant need to figure things out without the kind of support many people take for granted. That alone shaped the way I moved through the world, and healing from those experiences has been an ongoing journey.

As an entrepreneur, one of the biggest struggles has been building something meaningful while also carrying so much responsibility. I have had to wear many hats and often figure things out as I go. There have been financial challenges, moments of exhaustion, times when I questioned whether people truly understood the value of what I offer, and seasons where I was pouring into others while still making sure I was pouring into myself.

Another challenge has been creating work that is deeply rooted in healing, spirituality, and community while navigating a world that does not always understand or honor that kind of work. Sometimes people only see the finished product, not the sacrifice, faith, and resilience it took to build it. I have had to learn how to trust my vision, stand firm in who I am, and keep going even when the path was unclear.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Good Karma Botanica & Wellness is a healing centered business, but it is also deeply about legacy. At its core, this brand is an extension of the traditions, wisdom, and folk healing practices that were present in my family long before I ever turned them into a business. Growing up, I saw my grandmother do certain things and work with certain tools, and at one time I never imagined that those same practices would one day become part of my life’s work. What once felt like something from my upbringing became something I came to understand more deeply, honor more intentionally, and eventually build upon in my own way.

Today, Good Karma Botanica & Wellness offers herbs, handcrafted teas, tinctures, spiritual supplies, Reiki, sound healing, and tarot, all within a space designed to support people on their healing journey. What makes this work different is that it is rooted in both lived experience and ancestral remembrance. I am not simply selling products or offering services. I am carrying forward pieces of what was passed down, while also creating a healing space for people who are looking for support, clarity, and transformation.

What sets me apart is that my brand is deeply personal and deeply intentional. It is rooted in my own healing journey, but it is also rooted in the understanding that many of the ways we heal are not new. They are often tied to the wisdom of those who came before us. Good Karma allows me to honor that legacy while making these practices accessible in a way that feels grounded, welcoming, and relevant for people today.

I am known for blending herbalism, spiritual wellness, and real life healing in a way that feels authentic and compassionate. Whether someone comes to me for herbs, a Reiki session, tarot, or spiritual tools, I want them to feel like they are entering a space where healing is respected, where tradition has a place, and where they can reconnect with themselves on a deeper level.

Brand wise, what I am most proud of is that Good Karma Botanica & Wellness stands for more than business. It stands for healing, legacy, resilience, and the power of turning what once lived quietly in your bloodline into something that can serve and uplift others. I am proud that I have built a brand that honors my ancestors, reflects my own path, and creates room for other people to explore healing in ways that feel meaningful to them.

What I want readers to know is that Good Karma Botanica & Wellness was built with care, purpose, and reverence. This is a brand born from experience, from tradition, and from a desire to help people heal in mind, body, and spirit. It is a place where legacy lives, healing happens, and people are reminded that there is wisdom in both the old ways and the journey of becoming.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are many ways people can work with me, collaborate with me, and support the work I am building. One of the main ways is by booking services through Good Karma Botanica & Wellness, whether that is Reiki, tarot, sound healing, or by shopping our herbs, teas, tinctures, and spiritual supplies. Every appointment booked and every purchase made helps support a healing centered business that was built with intention, legacy, and community in mind.

People can also collaborate with me through workshops, wellness events, speaking opportunities, community partnerships, and other aligned offerings that center healing, education, and empowerment. I am always open to meaningful collaboration with individuals and organizations whose values align with the kind of impact I want to make.

Support can also look like service. Good Karma Botanica & Wellness does have volunteers, and we are also in need of volunteers on the nonprofit side through Woman Recreated. One of the major things we are currently planning is our Garden of Healing, and we need hands on support as we bring that vision to life. For those who believe in the therapeutic power of gardening, community healing, and creating spaces for restoration, volunteering is a beautiful way to contribute.

Another powerful way to support is by spreading the word. Sharing our work with others, telling people about our products and services, inviting others to visit the shop, recommending our offerings, and helping amplify our mission all make a difference. Word of mouth has real power, and when people share what we do, it helps us reach those who may truly need these resources and services.

I want readers to know that support does not always have to be large to be meaningful. Whether someone books a service, shops with us, volunteers, collaborates, donates, or simply shares our name with someone else, it all helps strengthen the work. Every bit of support helps us continue creating spaces for healing, legacy, and transformation.
