Today we’d like to introduce you to Nori.
Hi Nori, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I made Charlotte my home in 2019. I came from Ecuador when I was a Director at the Post Office in my province. I met my husband Richard during my previous vacations in Chicago. When I came I started studying 6-8 hours a day English at CPCC and by my own.
I really didn’t know where to start.
One of my teachers at CPCC told me the best way to start is being a volunteer. I volunteer in a couple of churches and Camino. Camino offered me a job and I stay there for 5 years.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I noticed that without English nothing is possible.
One year I wasted my time just trying to figure out what to do.
I’m grateful to God because He gave me mentors who guide me during this journey. My friends Andrea, Tatiana and Diego, my teacher Mohammed, without them it could not have done what I did. English is always a struggle but what I have seen is changing the mindset is the key.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My background is in business administration. I hold an MBA diploma and several business related certifications.
I started the program Camino Arriba, where more that 6000 people have been help. 250 people studied the entrepreneurial program we teach and 60% of them started a business.
I help to get job opportunities to 350 people.
I shared monthly free workshops within the community taking Latinos to places they could never imagine

I want a successful Latino community, offering unique value to their employers and customers.
I want that every Latino who comes to this country work on their careers.
I dream of a powerful community integrated to the American culture with respect to.
