Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Fravor.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I got started in social media toward the end of 2020, when things were slowly starting to open back up again. A local coffee shop was struggling with their marketing and social media presence, so I offered to help. At the time, I was attending ECU and studying marketing, so I felt like I could bring real value to their business.
Within about six months, I was able to help grow both their audience and their business, which gave me the confidence to keep going. They ended up referring another client to me, and that was really the moment when I realized this could become something bigger and I started taking on clients more seriously.
Since then, I’ve built my business around helping small businesses show up online in a way that feels authentic, strategic, and sustainable. I love the freedom and creativity that freelancing in social media has given me, and being able to support other local businesses while doing something I genuinely enjoy has been incredibly rewarding.
Recently, I’ve also started offering coaching services for business owners who may not need full social media management but still want guidance, strategy, and support. I also work with aspiring social media managers who are looking to learn the industry, build confidence, and grow their own businesses. I love being able to help people not just through done-for-you services, but by teaching them how to succeed on their own too.
My brand name, Dizon Digital Media, is also very personal to me. “Dizon” comes from my middle name, which is my mom’s maiden name. She’s from the Philippines, and in Filipino culture, it’s common to pass down the mother’s maiden name as the child’s middle name. I’m really proud of that part of my heritage, so incorporating it into my business felt like the perfect way to honor that and make my brand feel even more meaningful
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. For the first five years, I was working full-time as a retail manager while also building my social media business on the side. Balancing a demanding day job, growing my business, and still making time for myself and my partner was one of the biggest challenges. There were a lot of long days, late nights, and moments where I questioned if I could really make the leap into doing social media full-time.
I also experienced a lot of growing pains as I started working with more clients. One of the hardest lessons was realizing that not every client is the right fit, and that saying yes to everyone just to onboard a client usually creates more problems later. I had to learn not to undervalue myself, my time, or my expertise just for the sake of landing work.
Building confidence in myself was another big part of the journey. When you’re starting out, it’s easy to question whether you’re experienced enough or if people will take you seriously. Over time, I learned that results matter, consistency matters, and the right clients will come when you stand firm in your value.
Those challenges honestly shaped the business I have now. They taught me boundaries, better systems, and how to create a business that feels sustainable instead of overwhelming. Sometimes the hard lessons are the ones that build the strongest foundation.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m a freelance social media manager and the owner of Dizon Digital Media, where I help small businesses build a stronger, more intentional online presence through strategy, content creation, and social media management. I specialize in working with business owners who are either short on time, unsure where to start, or just want their social media to feel more aligned and effective without the overwhelm.
More recently, I’ve also expanded into coaching services. This includes support for business owners who don’t need full management but want guidance and direction, as well as aspiring social media managers who are looking to build confidence, structure, and real-world understanding of the industry.
What I’m known for is making social media feel approachable and doable. I focus on strategy first, but always pair it with authenticity. I don’t believe every brand should show up the same way online, so I work closely with clients to build a presence that actually reflects who they are while still driving results.
What sets me apart is the balance I bring between creativity, strategy, and education. I don’t just want to create content that looks good, I want it to work, and I want my clients to understand why it works. My approach is hands-on, personalized, and rooted in long-term growth instead of quick fixes or trend-chasing.
I’m based in New Bern, North Carolina, and being rooted here is a big part of my brand. A lot of my work is inspired by and connected to the local community, and I intentionally incorporate that small business, local-first mindset into how I serve my clients. In my brand photography and content, I also often feature New Bern because it reflects where I’m from, where I work, and the community I care about building within.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the growth and the local community I’ve been able to build through Dizon Digital Media. Starting something from scratch and watching it bloom has been such a rewarding experience, even through the challenges along the way.
At the heart of everything, I want people to know this brand is built on real experience, real relationships, and a genuine desire to make social media feel less overwhelming and more empowering for the people behind the businesses.
What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, my focus is on continuing to grow Dizon Digital Media in a way that stays intentional, sustainable, and rooted in both service and education.
On the service side, I’ll continue working with small businesses through social media management, content creation, and strategy development, helping them show up online with more clarity and consistency. I’ve also recently added someone to my team who helps with content creation, which has been a really exciting step in expanding capacity while still maintaining quality and a hands-on approach with clients.
On the coaching side, I’m really looking forward to continuing to grow that part of the business as well. Supporting business owners who just need guidance, as well as aspiring social media managers entering the industry, has become a meaningful extension of what I do. I’m exploring ways to build out more resources and structured support to make that knowledge even more accessible.
Long term, I’m excited about growth, but I’m equally intentional about keeping things personal and community-focused. One of the things I’m most proud of is the local relationships I’ve built, and I don’t want to lose that as the business expands.
Overall, I’m looking forward to continuing to evolve Dizon Digital Media while staying grounded in the same mission it started with, helping people feel confident, capable, and supported in how they show up online.
