Check Out Jerome Bell, Sr.’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerome Bell, Sr..

Hi Jerome, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Mother was a drug dealer
Mother went to prison
Mother was a drug dealer
Mother became crack addict
I became a homeless teenager
A serendipity wave snatched me and landed me in the Marine Corps
Served ten years and obtained three degrees, during which I was introduced to the stock market and investing in real estate, created residual income and began my real estate empire
Exited the Marine Corps to open my accounting firm and then six months later my real estate investing firm
Served on multiple non-profit boards and have focused my volunteer service on helping the homeless
Today, licensed General Contractor, Real Estate Developer, published Author and Senior Accountant
Divorced with four children and four grandchildren

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
growing up in the streets, everyone is an enemy
so, I had to learn how to get out of my own head and change my mentality and learn how to approach, connect and interact with other people in an authentic, positive manner that allowed my relationships with others to grow

once I changed how I saw the world and then learned how to treat myself better, the world has treated me so much better

I have been my greatest challenge and my greatest defeat

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I started writing as a hobby many years ago but never did anything with it.
Watching the murder of George Floyd motivated me to start publishing
I created the American’t series; America if you’re white and ‘America can NOT’ if you’re not white
Writing allows me to say what I want through the creation of characters that are relatable to the readers who, like me, love America but don’t see an America that reciprocates
There is an emotional power that comes with expressing yourself on paper, and even a vulnerability allowing your art to be read by the word, but it’s also fascinating and gratifying when someone calls or writes me that comprehended my perspective and felt like I spoke for them as well
I’m in the process of publishing my fourth book and plan on publishing two per year moving forward

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I read a book per week and I listen to a multitude of podcasts throughout the day while I’m working.
My top favorites are:
Earn Your Leisure
The Wallstreet Trapper
The Best Real Estate Advice Ever
Paul Barron
The Diary of a CEO
Kamilah Stevenson
