My name is LaShawn Green, and I am the proud owner of Green’s Tax Services LLC, a trusted tax and accounting firm that has been serving the community for over 30 years. As the wife of a retired military veteran, mother of four, and grandmother of two with two sons-in-law, I strive to bring both professional expertise and personal devotion to everyone I encounter.
My career was shaped by more than 28 years of dedicated service at NC State University in accounting, until my retirement in 2021. This experience has instilled a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence that I carry into my business today.
My journey did not begin with a business plan; it started with faith, perseverance, and a clear sense of purpose. Becoming a mother at a very young age in my teens taught me invaluable lessons in responsibility, survival, sacrifice, and resilience. I faced life’s storms head-on, trusting God and striving to build a brighter future for my family. Life didn’t come with a roadmap, but it gifted me with determination—an unbreakable drive to succeed.
I pursued my education by earning an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s in accounting, along with nine credit hours toward a Master’s in Taxation. My faith and hard work laid the foundation for my entrepreneurial journey. The business was born from a simple act of faith—trust placed in me when I was asked to prepare a friend’s taxes. That small favor sparked a larger vision. With no shortcuts, just faith in God and relentless effort, I built the business from the ground up with the support of my husband and family. As it grew through word of mouth and genuine care for my clients, I often faced fears of growing alone. Yet, I found peace and strength in knowing that God was guiding every step.
In 2012, Green’s Tax Services reached a significant milestone—purchasing its first property in Angier, NC, and constructing a 2,024-square-foot office complex from scratch. I envisioned more than a typical tax office; I wanted a space that felt like home—a place where clients could feel comfortable, valued, and supported. My mission extended beyond taxes and profits; it was about serving people, providing ministry, and doing what I love—praying for others and encouraging their growth.
Every client who walks through my doors receives more than just a service—they receive care, encouragement, and often prayer. Throughout my life, others have supported and guided me. Now, I am committed to giving back, embodying the spirit of service in all I do.
With over 30 years as an entrepreneur, I stand as a testimony to the power of vision, faith in God, and perseverance. My story is a living proof of strength, sacrifice, service, and the courage to believe in a God bigger than any challenge. I believe that humble beginnings can grow into something powerful when rooted in faith and purpose.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my significant challenges was learning how to balance multiple roles simultaneously. I found myself wearing many hats at once, often without the opportunity to choose which one to wear on any given day. Over the years, I realized the importance of scaling back to avoid wasting time, as every minute counts.
Another challenge was learning to set boundaries and accepting that it is okay to say no. This was difficult for me initially, as I strived to please everyone. However, I came to understand that I cannot serve everyone’s needs at the expense of my own well-being, and I recognized the importance of prioritizing self-care to maintain my effectiveness and peace.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Over the course of many years, I have gained valuable insights about people, business, and myself. One of the most important lessons is that we are all working together toward positive outcomes. To achieve this, it was essential to eliminate distractions and maintain harmony, focusing on keeping the peace at all times.
I have learned that professionalism must always be prioritized. I had to develop the ability to avoid unnecessary conflicts, reduce confusion, and ensure clear communication. Valuing peace and respect has proven to be more important than simply receiving payment; fostering a respectful environment and maintaining positive energy daily are vital. Additionally, learning to listen effectively has enabled me to build stronger, healthier, and more enduring relationships.
Another key lesson for me was the importance of keeping personal and business matters separate. When conflicts arise, addressing and resolving issues constructively and promptly is crucial, always aiming for solutions that benefit everyone involved. These principles have contributed significantly to my personal growth and the success and respect of Green’s Tax Services.
Finally, I had to view obstacles and challenges not as mere stumbling blocks but as opportunities for growth. They serve as catalysts for development and help strengthen both my business and personal resilience. Each challenge offers a valuable lesson, guiding me toward continuous improvement and greater strength.
