Hidden Gems: Meet Tommy Davis of Missions Pottery and More LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tommy Davis.

Hi Tommy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Because of a high stress job, my doctor recommended a hobby. I had alwaays been intrigued by the making of pottery so I took a class. I found out quickly that I was blessed with the capability of being able to make pottery. My daughter and son in law own and operaate a coffee shop so they began selling what I was making and taking orders. In 2008 when the economy tanked, I was laid off from my high stress job so I ended up going to pottery school and after that I opened my retail/wholesale buisness. we are a family of faith so we include that in our buisness structure and we feel that is the reason for our success.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not always but again with out faith we look at it as a time of testing and growing .

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a small buisness in uptown Lexington NC. We have 12 fultime/part time employees. We are a production pottery buisness. We are known for a small hole that we put in each piece of pottery that we tie a tag through that explains our chriatian beliefs. I try very hard not to be pridefull of our success and count it as blessings from our Lord. We are always looking for new wholesale customers to sell our products.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I am always open to helping and answering questios that anyone might ask.
