Hi Nathalia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Five years ago, after spending over a decade working as an esthetician in a spa setting, I took a leap of faith and opened my own studio. But my path into the beauty industry wasn’t the original plan.
My dream had actually been to become a journalist. I studied speech and communications in college for about two years.. During that time, I went in for a facial, and that experience completely changed my perspective. I remember thinking about how impactful it was to make someone feel cared for, confident, and seen — and that moment became the beginning of a new direction in my life.
That experience led me to pursue esthetics. I completed my training and went on to work in a spa for over 10 years, building hands-on experience and growing deeply passionate about skin health and client care.
Over time, clients began encouraging me to open my own space. After years of considering it, I finally took the leap and opened my studio
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
of the biggest obstacles I faced came just three months after opening my studio, when COVID-19 hit and the world shut down. It was an incredibly uncertain time for the entire beauty industry, especially as a new business owner.
Although it was challenging, I chose to use that period as a time to reflect, regroup, and get very clear on my vision for my business. Instead of stepping back, I focused on learning, planning, and strengthening the foundation of what I wanted to build long-term.
That experience ultimately made me stronger and more intentional as an entrepreneur. It taught me resilience early on and pushed me to grow my business with more purpose, clarity, and confidence.

Novaj Skin Studio is a results-driven skincare and wellness studio dedicated to helping clients achieve healthy, radiant skin in a relaxing and welcoming environment. While we offer a variety of beauty services including lashes and brows, our true specialty and passion is advanced skincare and skin health.
We are known for combining effective, customized treatments with a calm, spa-like experience. Some of our signature services include hydrodermabrasion, chemical peels, oxygen facials, and personalized skincare treatments designed to target individual skin concerns while also supporting long-term skin health.
What sets Novaj Skin Studio apart is our approach — we focus not just on beauty, but on education, prevention, and real skin transformation. Every client receives a tailored experience based on their skin needs, lifestyle, and goals. Our space was created to feel safe, personal, and intentional, where clients can relax while still receiving high-level results.
We are also proud to be a bilingual studio, serving both English and Spanish-speaking clients, which allows us to connect with a diverse community and make professional skincare more accessible.
From a brand perspective, I am most proud of the growth and resilience behind Novaj Skin Studio. What started as a small dream has expanded into a four-room studio that now also supports independent estheticians, creating space not only for clients to grow in confidence, but for other beauty professionals to grow their own businesses as well.
At its core, Novaj Skin Studio is about confidence, consistency, and care, helping people feel comfortable in their skin while building long-term skin health, not just quick fixes.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that timing will never feel perfect, and you can’t wait for everything to be ideal before taking a leap. Opening my business just before COVID taught me very quickly that challenges are part of the journey, not a sign that you made the wrong decision.
Most importantly, I’ve learned that when you stay grounded in your purpose, even the most challenging seasons become part of your foundation. Everything I’ve experienced has shaped the way I run Novaj Skin Studio today, with more intention, clarity, and confidence.
