Rising Stars: Meet PoisonIvey Green of North Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to PoisonIvey Green.

Hi PoisonIvey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began with a deep love for music and storytelling from an early age. Growing up, I was always surrounded by creativity, whether it was singing in community choirs, writing poetry, or experimenting with my first recording software. These early passions inspired me to pursue music production and film more seriously.

I took the leap and enrolled at Berklee College of Music, where I dove into both the technical and creative sides of the industry. Along the way, I founded PoisonIveyGreen Entertainment as a platform to not only share my own work but also uplift and connect with other artists, musicians, and creatives.

Through years of dedication, collaboration, and learning from every challenge, I’ve grown both as an artist and entrepreneur. Today, I’m proud to be releasing my first album, producing visual projects, and building a supportive community for local talent. My story is still unfolding, but it’s rooted in resilience, passion, and the belief that creativity can make a real impact.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road; my journey has been marked by both incredible highs and some very challenging lows. One of the biggest turning points was my motorcycle accident on May 3, 2019, which left me with a broken left leg. Recovery was physically and emotionally demanding, and it forced me to pause and reflect on my path and purpose.

Shortly after, I faced even more profound losses as I lost my grandparents and my mother. Grieving while trying to heal and move forward with my creative goals was one of the hardest periods of my life. These experiences tested my resilience and changed my perspective on what truly matters.

Through it all, music and creativity became a source of healing and strength for me. Each setback taught me the value of perseverance, gratitude, and community support. While the road hasn’t been easy, these challenges shaped who I am today and continue to inspire my work and my commitment to uplifting others through PoisonIveyGreen Entertainment.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a multidisciplinary artist, producer, and founder of PoisonIveyGreen Entertainment. My work spans music production, songwriting, film, and creative direction. I specialize in blending soulful, authentic sounds with compelling visual storytelling, creating projects that resonate emotionally and spark conversation.

I’m known for my ability to bring together talented artists and musicians, fostering a collaborative environment where creativity thrives. Through my company, I produce original music, direct music videos, and curate events that uplift and showcase independent talent.

What I’m most proud of is building a platform that not only supports my own artistic vision but also empowers others to share their stories and gifts. Launching our recording studio, producing the #AfterHours Drink Series, and mentoring emerging creatives are just a few milestones that mean a lot to me.

What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity and community. My experiences, overcoming adversity, navigating loss, and finding healing through art, have shaped my approach. I focus on creating meaningful work that reflects real life and inspires connection. I believe in using my platform to celebrate resilience, encourage collaboration, and push creative boundaries.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always curious and creative. I had a vivid imagination and loved exploring new things, whether through music, writing, or art. Personality-wise, I was outgoing but also loved spending time alone, getting lost in my thoughts and ideas. I was the kid who would organize talent shows in the backyard, write songs in my notebook, and constantly experiment with anything that let me express myself.

Music was always a big part of my life; I sang in choirs, played instruments, and sought out new sounds. I was also interested in storytelling, whether through books, movies, or my own made-up adventures. That blend of curiosity, creativity, and a drive to connect with others is still at the core of who I am today.
