Hidden Gems: Meet Gina Spriggs of Curio, Craft & Conjure

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Spriggs.

Hi Gina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2016, our lives changed forever.

Within a short period of time, our family experienced the passing of five people we deeply loved — my mother and father, my daughter’s father, my aunt, and my partner. The grief was overwhelming. Life as we knew it cracked wide open.

Like many people walking through loss, we searched for ways to heal, reconnect, and make sense of what we were feeling. But what we discovered along the way was something much bigger than grief itself.

Through spiritual practice, ritual, intuition, energy work, tarot, herbs, candles, crystals, ancestral connection, and deep inner work, we found ourselves healing in ways we never expected. Not because someone “saved” us — but because we learned how to support ourselves spiritually, emotionally, and energetically.

And as we healed, something became very clear:
other people were searching too.

People were looking for connection. For meaning. For tools. For guidance. For safe spaces where they could explore spirituality without judgment and reconnect with themselves in authentic ways.

So in 2018, my daughter Gianna and I opened Curio, Craft & Conjure — a mother/daughter business built from love, loss, healing, intuition, and a genuine desire to serve others.

What began as a small spiritual shop quickly became something much more. Over the last eight years, we’ve been honored to support practitioners, seekers, healers, readers, and curious souls from all over the world.

At the heart of everything we do is education and empowerment. We believe spirituality should be accessible, practical, and deeply personal. That’s why teaching has become such an important part of our work.

Today, we offer 15 online programs and regularly host live classes, workshops, and events in the store — creating spaces where people can learn, grow, heal, and strengthen their own spiritual connection.

Curio, Craft & Conjure was never just about products on shelves.

It was — and still is — about helping people remember their own power.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges we faced came in 2020 with COVID-19.

Like countless small businesses, we were suddenly forced to close our doors to the public. But while the world paused, our bills did not. Our leasing company still expected rent. Utilities still had to be paid. Inventory still had to be ordered. There was a lot of uncertainty, and honestly, it was frightening at times.

We had to quickly shift from being a primarily in-store experience to operating almost entirely online. Fortunately, years earlier, I had already begun building a newsletter list, which directed our clients to our online presence. We were able to continue offering spiritual tools, books, tarot decks, classes, and resources digitally. That decision ended up saving us.

Our online sales carried us through one of the hardest seasons we had ever faced. We weren’t thriving in some glamorous way — we were making just enough to keep the lights on, pay the bills, and stay afloat. But during that time, “just enough” felt like a miracle.

Something unexpected also happened during the pandemic. With more time at home, people began searching for deeper connection, meaning, and personal growth. Many explored tarot for the first time. People started reading again. They became curious about spirituality, intuition, ancestral work, candle magic, meditation, and self-discovery.

In many ways, the world slowed down long enough for people to finally hear themselves think.

And because of that, our community grew. Not just in numbers, but in depth. We taught classes online, connected with people virtually, and watched spiritual practices become a source of comfort, empowerment, and grounding for so many navigating uncertain times.

COVID tested us in every possible way — emotionally, financially, and spiritually. But it also reinforced why Curio, Craft & Conjure exists in the first place: to help people reconnect with themselves, especially during life’s hardest seasons.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Curio, Craft & Conjure?
Before opening Curio, Craft & Conjure, both my daughter and I came from very different professional backgrounds that unexpectedly prepared us for the work we do today.

My background was in retail management and business-to-business sales prior to 2011, when I began reading tarot professionally and teaching intuitive development. My daughter, Gianna, graduated from culinary school and worked as a chef in some of Charlotte’s finest restaurants before realizing that being screamed at in high-pressure kitchens was literally a recipe for energetic disaster. Eventually, we both found our way back to work that felt aligned, healing, and purposeful.

What sets us apart from many metaphysical stores is that we are actual practitioners — not simply store owners selling spiritual products. We actively do the work, live the practices, teach the practices, and help clients apply them in practical ways to their everyday lives.

We also embrace what we lovingly call “melting pot magick” — drawing inspiration from spiritual and magical traditions from around the world. We believe wisdom exists across cultures, practices, and lineages, and we honor those teachings with deep respect and curiosity.

Inside the store, both Gianna and I offer services rooted in healing, spiritual connection, and energetic support.
Gianna specializes in energy work, including Limpiezas (spiritual cleansing and energy clearing), Ancestor Walks, and Past Life Journeys. Her work helps clients release stagnant energy, reconnect with themselves, and explore deeper layers of healing and spiritual understanding.

I offer several different types of readings, each designed to meet people where they are emotionally, spiritually, and energetically. My most popular service is the Intuitive Tarot Reading, which combines tarot, intuition, and spiritual guidance in a grounded and practical way.

I also offer Intuitive Tarot Spell Work for people who receive difficult or emotionally heavy information and cannot “unhear” what feels negative or frightening. In these sessions, I work with herbs, incense, prayer, chanting, and energetic intention around the cards to amplify supportive energy while helping to soften or redirect more difficult energetic patterns.

My Bone Readings provide opportunities for ancestral communication and guidance, while my Lumin8 Readings are deeply focused on healing and transformation.

The The Lumin8 Healing Oracle is a healing system and oracle deck I created that includes seven interconnected decks — and in many ways, the client becomes part of the reading itself. During a Lumin8 session, we identify areas of healing and growth, the emotions holding dense energy in place, and where that energy is being stored within the chakras and energetic field. From there, we explore which plant spirits, elements, and supportive spiritual energies — including Ancestors, Angels, Ascended Masters, Star Beings, or God — can assist the client moving forward. And yes… there is homework. Healing is participation, not performance.

Brand-wise, what we are most proud of is the community we’ve built. Over the last eight years, we’ve created a space where people feel seen, supported, curious, safe, and empowered to explore spirituality in their own way. We are especially passionate about teaching and helping people strengthen their own intuition rather than becoming dependent on someone else for answers.

Today, we offer 15 online programs and regularly host live classes and events in-store. Whether someone visits us for a reading, a candle, a class, or simply a conversation, our goal is always the same: to help people reconnect with their own power, wisdom, healing, and spiritual connection.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to us is helping people feel empowered, supported, and spiritually connected in ways that are authentic, ethical, and sustainable.

At Curio, Craft & Conjure, we believe spirituality should never be rooted in fear, dependency, or gatekeeping. One of the things we care deeply about is helping people strengthen their own intuition and discernment rather than convincing them they constantly need someone else to “fix” them or tell them what to do.

Education is a huge part of our mission. We don’t just want people to buy tools — we want them to understand how to use them, the science behind why they work, where traditions come from, and how to build meaningful practices that actually support their lives. That’s why teaching has become such a large part of what we do, both online and in-person.

Ethical practice also matters tremendously to us. In spiritual spaces, people are often vulnerable. They may be grieving, searching, heartbroken, fearful, or trying to heal. We take that responsibility seriously. We try to approach every service, class, and interaction with honesty, compassion, and integrity. If something is beyond our scope, we say so. If someone needs practical support in addition to spiritual support, we encourage that too.

We also value inclusivity and accessibility. Spirituality exists across cultures, traditions, and lived experiences, and we believe there are many paths to healing and connection. Our “melting pot magick” philosophy reflects that belief — honoring wisdom from different traditions while encouraging people to discover what genuinely resonates with them.

Most of all, we care about community. Over the years, we’ve watched complete strangers walk into the store and leave with friendships, confidence, healing, and a deeper sense of belonging. That means everything to us.

At the end of the day, we are not trying to create customers who rely on us forever. We are trying to help create people who trust themselves more deeply than they did before they walked through our doors.
