Life & Work with Jerome Williams of Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerome Williams.

Hi Jerome, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Kingston’s Pet Service was born from personal experience and a passion for helping pet owners protect and care for the animals they love. I founded the company and remain the sole owner, building it from the ground up with a vision of creating a safer, more connected pet care community.

The inspiration behind the business came from my son, Kingston, and his beloved Doxiepoo. Years before starting the company, our family adopted a mixed-breed dog that was microchipped. Unfortunately, the dog got away, and despite every effort to find it, we were never reunited. That experience left a lasting impact on us and sparked a desire to create better solutions for pet safety and identification.

That journey led to the development of our Pet Tracker ID Tags, which have now been on the market for more than three years. The tags were designed to help provide pet owners with greater peace of mind and improve the chances of reuniting lost pets with their families.

As the business grew, another challenge became apparent. My family travels frequently, and finding reliable local pet care wasn’t always easy. While researching available options, I saw an opportunity to build a platform that offered more than just pet sitting. I wanted to create a community-driven solution that connected pet owners with trusted caregivers while also creating flexible income opportunities for people who genuinely love animals.

That vision became Kingston’s Pet Service App, which officially launched this week. The platform connects pet owners with local sitters, walkers, and caregivers while complementing the pet safety solutions we’ve already built through our Pet Tracker ID Tags.

What started with one family’s experience has grown into a broader mission. Today, Kingston’s Pet Service is focused on building a complete ecosystem centered around pet care, pet safety, and community. Our goal is simple: help pet owners feel confident their pets are safe, cared for, and loved, while creating opportunities for others to earn income doing something they enjoy.

At the heart of everything we do is a belief that pets are family, and family deserves the very best care and protection possible.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many founders, I started without significant outside funding or a large support network, so every step required creativity, persistence, and a strong belief in the vision. I was also learning as I went—teaching myself product development, technology, and the realities of building a business through research, experimentation, and plenty of mistakes.

There were moments when progress felt slow and the obstacles seemed bigger than the opportunities, but those challenges became the foundation of the company. They taught me to be resourceful, adaptable, and relentlessly focused on solving problems.

That persistence has paid off. Seeing our Pet Tracker ID Tags succeed over the past three years and now launching the Kingston’s Pet Service App is proof that staying committed through the toughest stages can turn an idea into a growing business.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
With five years of software development experience in Raleigh, North Carolina, I bring a strong technical background to Kingston’s Pet Service and the development of our Pet Tracker ID Tags. My experience building software solutions has helped shape the technology behind our platform, creating reliable tools that keep pets safe and connected to their families.

At Kingston’s Pet Service, I develop solutions that make life easier and safer for pet owners. As founder and owner, I’ve led product development, operations, and customer experience.

I focus on identifying gaps in the pet industry and creating services that deliver real value. Our goal is to build a trusted pet care ecosystem for pet owners.

Kingston’s Pet Service connects pet owners with trusted sitters and caregivers while offering Pet Tracker ID Tags, pet insurance, and adoption resources. We’re building a one-stop destination for pet care and safety.

We’re also committed to helping animal lovers earn income doing what they enjoy. By bringing pet services and resources together, we’re creating a community that puts pets and their families first.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: pets are family. Every service we offer is designed to provide better care and peace of mind.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I never planned to start a pet company. Kingston’s Pet Service grew from my experiences as a pet owner into a business that helps pets and their people.

Many assume there was a big business plan from the start, but the company grew one solution at a time. It began with Pet Tracker ID Tags and expanded into pet care, insurance, adoption resources, and community support.

I’ve built this company while wearing many hats, including software development, product design, customer support, marketing, and operations. Being a founder has taught me to learn, adapt, and keep moving forward.

At my core, I love solving real problems and creating solutions that make life better for pets and their owners.
