Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Page.
Hi Ali, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The market was started in 2014 and changed hands several times over the years. In 2024, myself and a handful of Apex residents took over. We worked to build the market back up after it was heavily impacted by Covid. Since then we’ve grown the market to three times its size and regularly give back to the community. Twice per month we donate goods to Meals on Wheels Friendship Cafe and once per month we donate goods to NeighborUp in Apex.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The market changed locations multiple times over the years which caused customers to lose track of us. Also, covid impacted the market tremendously as vendors didn’t want to come out and neither did customers.
When we first took over in 2024, finances were an issue so it took time to build up enough to start giving back to the community.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have just completed my 26th year as a contractor to the US EPA. I manage a large part of an IT contract responsible for maintaining applications and websites.
We help the EPA gather and analyze data used to protect our planet.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was a silly kid who loved to play in the woods and be around animals of all kinds. With my family, I did a lot of camping, white water rafting, horseback riding, and going to concerts. I grew up local to Apex and watched it change over the years. I’m happy to be a part of the community that helps people and provides fresh foods to them.
