Hidden Gems: Meet Teonna Kidd of One of One Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teonna Kidd.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Looking back, I think every job I had was preparing me for where I am today. Before real estate, I spent years working in sales-based call centers. While I never truly enjoyed that type of work, I discovered I had a natural ability to connect with people. I consistently exceeded my sales goals and eventually began training new hires because of my performance. That’s where I learned how to communicate, build trust quickly, solve problems, and lead others. These are skills I still use every day. Even then, I knew I wanted more than a traditional 9-to-5. I explored entrepreneurship several times, trying different business ventures, but nothing ever felt like the right fit. I always knew I wanted to build something of my own. I just hadn’t found what I was meant to build yet. Five years ago, I found real estate, and everything clicked. It combined everything I loved: sales, marketing, negotiating, educating clients, and making a real impact in people’s lives. Since then, I’ve grown from a brand-new agent into a Broker-in-Charge and brokerage owner. I’ve built and mentored a team of agents, served clients across Raleigh and Eastern North Carolina, and helped countless families buy, sell, and invest in real estate. Outside of business, becoming a mother has given me an even greater sense of purpose. It reminds me every day why I’m so passionate about helping others build wealth, stability, and a legacy through homeownership. I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve accomplished over the last five years, but I truly feel like I’m just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my share of setbacks, uncertainty, and moments where I questioned whether I was on the right path. One of my biggest challenges was simply getting my feet wet in real estate. I was entering an industry where trust is everything, and as a new agent, I had to prove myself. Thankfully, I’ve always been a people person. Building genuine relationships came naturally to me, and I think being approachable and likable helped people feel comfortable putting their trust in me. Of course, not every transaction went as planned. I’ve lost deals that I was convinced would make clients lose confidence in me, but instead, they stayed with me because they saw how hard I worked, how honest I was, and how committed I was to finding solutions. Those experiences taught me that clients value integrity just as much as results. Another challenge was learning so much in such a short amount of time. Real estate isn’t something you master overnight, and there isn’t a roadmap for every situation. I spent countless hours educating myself, asking questions, and figuring things out as I went. Even after five years, every day presents a new learning opportunity. That’s one of the things I love most about this industry, there’s always room to grow. No matter the challenge, I stay committed to finding a solution and achieving the best possible outcome for my clients. Looking back, I’m grateful for every obstacle because each one helped shape the broker, business owner, and leader I am today. They taught me resilience, strengthened my confidence, and reminded me that success isn’t about never facing challenges, it’s about how you respond to them.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m the Broker-in-Charge and owner of my real estate firm. We help buyers, sellers, investors, and families navigate every stage of the real estate journey, from first-time homebuyers and USDA loans to new construction, relocation, luxury homes, and investment properties. One thing that sets us apart is that we take the time to educate our clients so they understand the process, their financing options, and how to make decisions that build long-term wealth. We want every client to feel empowered, NEVER pressured.
I’m also incredibly passionate about leadership and developing others. I have a team of agents that I’ve personally trained from day one. Watching them grow into knowledgeable, confident professionals has been one of the most rewarding parts of building my brokerage.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If there’s one thing I’d want readers to take away, it’s that success doesn’t happen overnight. My journey wasn’t built on luck, it was built on consistency, resilience, and a willingness to keep showing up, even when things didn’t go as planned. I hope my story encourages someone who’s still trying to find their path. I tried different careers and business ventures before discovering that real estate was where I truly belonged. Sometimes the journey isn’t about getting it right the first time, it’s about staying open to where you’re meant to be. As I continue to grow my brokerage, my biggest goal is to leave a legacy. I want to help families build generational wealth through homeownership, mentor agents into successful business owners, and make a positive impact in every community I serve. Most importantly, I want people to know that when they work with me, they’re getting someone who genuinely cares. Real estate is about more than buying and selling homes, it’s about changing lives, creating opportunities, and helping people build the future they envision for themselves. Also, being a mom doesn’t slow you down. It brings out another side of you that you never knew you had within yourself!
