Meet Etornam Djentuh of TheForeiignWay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Etornam Djentuh.

Etornam , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Of course, I started cutting hair during the COVID pandemic. It was something I decided to start, due to my love of watching transformation haircut videos in my free time. After graduating from Roseville high school in 2019, it was tough for me finding something that was “my calling” that I could make into a career.

When I took the time to sit down and think about the things that I enjoyed doing in my free time, I put two-and-two together and found out, becoming a barber might be my route to take. I enjoyed the art and the passion of cutting hair before I even thought of cutting hair for an income.

During the COVID pandemic lockdown, I took the time to do house calls for my friends to get my reps in before I started barber school in 2020 at Wake Tech Barber school. After that season is when I decided to work, promote, and grind my way nonstop to make the way for me to get my apprentice license before working my way up to get my registered licensed.

Throughout I had many people that I thought were in my corner talk down and make me feel like becoming a barber was a waste of time and not worth learning for a long term career. Those words not only motivated me more, but it made me realize there’ll ALWAYS be people to talk and say their opinions but it’s only up to YOU to decide what route you take. I knew what I wanted for myself, so I went against their opinions. That’s mainly why I made my brand “TheForeiignWay,” because it means being different, being fearless, going against the grain of your adversities to become or create a unique version of yourself.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would definitely say the road along the way has been bumpy. There were many struggles but also many smooth roads too. Other than people doubting me and talking me down along the way, just the desire to become good at cutting hair was a struggle for me because it’s something that I KNEW I wanted to be good at. Many times I started losing the confidence of becoming good at something I wanted, but I kept reminding myself of the end goal and my goals I had set along the way. Other than that, it was tough just in general to get clients to trust you in a craft where many people are already great at. The main thing that helped me was just being myself, learning what I can provide that’s different from the majority and just keep going. I had to keep going when it came to passing out business cards, posting on social media, perfecting my craft so the few clients I did have at the time can spread the word as well. Doing this didn’t work in just a week or two. This took a good year and a half of real consistency to REALLY start to see a growth and shift in the business.

We’ve been impressed with TheForeiignWay, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Yes of course, my business is built around providing more than just haircuts. It’s about creating an experience that leaves every client feeling confident and valued. I specialize in detailed, high-quality barbering with a strong focus on consistency, and client consultations as well. Every client receives my full attention, whether they’re coming in for a clean taper, a full transformation, or a simple shape-up.

To me, what sets my brand apart is the level of care and professionalism I bring to every appointment. I don’t believe in rushing clients through the chair. Instead, I focus on delivering a premium experience by paying attention to every detail, educating clients on maintaining their look, and making sure they leave feeling like the best version of themselves.

What I’m most proud of is the reputation my brand has earned through consistency, quality, and genuine relationships. I wanted to build something that people trust, not just for a great haircut, but for the experience they receive every time they sit in my chair.

I’m also proud that my brand stands for more than barbering. Giving back to the community through free haircut events, inspiring others through my content, and showing that success comes from discipline, hard work, and serving others are all values that define who I am. My goal has always been to create a brand that leaves a lasting impact on people, both inside and outside of the barbershop.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
That’s a good question. Raleigh’s been treating me well honestly. I’m originally from Accra, Ghana but I really grew up in the city of Raleigh. I love how chill and relaxed the city is to be honest. I feel like Raleigh as well is a great place for business and the opportunity to grow in entrepreneurship as well.

I don’t have a lot of complaints with Raleigh honestly. If I had to be picky and choose, I’d say the traffic at times can be bad, but not as bad as other cities. Other than that, I love the city and what it has to offer as well.
