Hi Tania, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Journey started in 2020 during Covid. I grew an interest in lashing. I’ve always loved beauty, beforehand, I was making and selling lipgloss/lipsticks and other beauty products. Lashing intrigued me, I took 2 courses around the area before I flew to California to help develop my skills. I then went to esthetician school. I made sure to show up everyday on social media to help grow my clientele. Posting my work, making videos, and showing my knowledge to people to help build trust.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It took me 3 years to grow a consistent clientele for me to quit my nanny job. I would go to work from 8am-3pm, take my first client at 4pm & 7pm. I wouldn’t get done until around 10-11pm. I did this for 3 years. It definitely took a lot of late nights and sacrifices, but I knew what I wanted and the things it would take for me to get to where I wanted to be. There was definitely times where I was drained and questioned myself if I was good enough, but those are the times where you have to push through!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I offer lash extensions, Korean lash lifts, & brow laminations. I mainly specialize in creating custom lash sets for each individual client. Lash extensions are so much more versatile than what people think. I don’t believe in a one set fits all, because not everyone has the same eye shape, facial features, or the same amount of natural lashes. This is something that I saw was needed in my city- A lash Artist. I like to refer to myself as a lash artist because I take the time to analyze clients eyes & facial features to help me create a custom lash set that enhances their natural beauty and doesn’t overpower their face. A lash set that is specifically for you. I am very proud that I developed this skill overtime and extended my knowledge, I absolutely love when first time clients come to me and they are amazed at my ability to have their vision come to life. Clients like to be heard, I truly take the time to talk to each client and ask them questions about not only their lifestyle, but also what they want and don’t want in their lash set.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk taking is definitely something that every entrepreneur has had to do. You have to believe in yourself before anyone else does. You need to have the vision and see it through. It won’t be easy, but it’s a risk you have to be willing to take. I want to say my biggest risk I took was quitting my consistent job to pursue lashing full time. It was hard to let go of what I was comfortable with but I knew this was the only way I would grow my business, & that was to go all in and give it all I got. If you never try, you will be stuck with “but what if I did” for the rest of your life. At least if you try it and it doesn’t go as planned, you can at least say that you tried!
