Today we’d like to introduce you to Nabila Hasan.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Having been a stay at home mom and raising my 3 daughters, I was eager and ready to go back to the workforce once my children were in school. A friend of mine was moving to California and wanted to sell her business and I bought it from her. My husband, Hashem, owned his own business at the time. After starting Magic Stitches, my husband and I quickly realized it was much more demanding than we anticipated, so he started helping me out part time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a blessing, but not always easy. Owning your own business is never easy and comes with a lot of sacrifices and hard work. My 3 daughters were elementary/middle school age at the time we started, so it took a lot of balancing the business and raising our kids and all of their extra curricular activities. We are an embroidery service, so that means having to meet our customers expectations and finding solutions when things don’t go as planned. We have also had to relocate after 16 years inside crabtree mall to the outer part – which was a challenge but turned out to be very positive.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are an embroidery service located outside of Crabtree Mall. We specialize in same day/next day embroidery. We do everything from single small orders, to large corporate orders with hundreds of items. We are known for getting the job done quickly!
What set us apart from others is our ability to provide a very quick service (same-day/next day).
We are proud to serve the triangle and take pride in the reputation we’ve built throughout the years. Not only have we serviced the triangle, but we’re very thankful for the great relationships we’ve built over the years with our clientele. Many of our customers have turned into beloved friends.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk is something that we’ve experienced and many business owners have experienced. The biggest risk starting off was buying the business and having to learn how to do embroidery with no prior experience. I knew it would be demanding and a lot of hard work, but I underestimated how much really went into it. I value hard work and hustle and believe that no matter what you do, if you have the right work ethic, you can succeed.
Another risk was moving locations into a brick and mortar. Having been in the middle of Crabtree Mall for 16 years, our business model relied a lot on foot traffic. Moving into a store with significantly less foot traffic in October 2025 was sort of scary, but we took the opportunity to really hone in on our social media presence and it worked out. for the better!
