Today we’d like to introduce you to Demarius Pearson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began photography in 2017 and have been able to expand it since then. I’ve been able to do a couple murals on race related topics and also visual story telling on making sure your mental health is always at the forefront. I’ve been lucky enough to host a free to the public artist exhibition here in Charlotte and will be hosting my second one this coming fall.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing is smooth in this industry. A lot is who you know, but at the same time your art is your art. The only opinion that should matter is yours. The visuals you are putting out to the world, no matter the medium, are amazing. No one can say they are “bad” except the artist producing them.

I’m a photographer and storyteller. The thing I’m most proud of are my murals that were based on the unappreciated groups in America . Those being the LGBTQ and minorities here. Outside of that my work focuses on mental health.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Just keep going. Even when you feel like it’s not your best work. Keep using that outlet that is your medium to keep you level. It gets better with time. Don’t let outside options sway you.
