Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamare’ Jackson-Banks.
Hi Shamare’ , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Shamare’ Jackson-Banks, and I’m a student-athlete, photographer, and someone who’s always looking for ways to grow and serve my community. I’m currently dual enrolled at Halifax Community College and Halifax County Early College while attending Southeast Halifax High School, where I balance academics, athletics, and my future career goals. Education has always been important to me, and being able to earn college credits while still in high school has helped prepare me for what’s next.
Sports have played a huge role in my life. I compete in football, basketball, baseball, and track, and football has opened the door to several college visits where I’ve had the opportunity to meet coaches, tour campuses, and experience what the next level looks like. Those visits have motivated me to keep working toward my dream of playing college football while continuing my education.
Outside of sports, I’m passionate about photography and videography. Through my brand, @bugzflicks on Instagram, I’ve been able to capture moments for athletes, schools, and my community while developing my creativity and business skills. What started as an interest behind the camera has grown into something I’m proud to build, and I enjoy telling stories through my work.
Looking ahead, I’m taking steps to serve in more ways than one. I’m currently joining the fire department, and in 2027 I plan to enlist in the military while continuing to pursue my education and athletic goals. Whether I’m on the football field, behind the camera, in the classroom, or serving my community, I want to make a positive impact and inspire others to chase their goals with discipline, hard work, and consistency. I’m just getting started, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been making decisions about my future. Balancing school, dual enrollment, four sports, photography, preparing to join the fire department, and planning to enlist in the military has forced me to make choices that will shape my future. There have been times when I’ve had to decide what opportunities to prioritize and what sacrifices to make. Managing everything at once hasn’t always been easy, but those challenges have taught me discipline, time management, and the importance of staying focused on my long-term goals.

I’m a photographer and videographer who specializes in capturing sports, community events, and special moments. Through my photography brand, @bugzflicks on Instagram, I’ve built a reputation for creating high-quality content that tells a story instead of just taking pictures. I enjoy helping athletes, teams, and organizations showcase their hard work through photos and videos that they can look back on for years to come.
What I’m most proud of is how I’ve been able to grow my brand while still balancing school, college classes, athletics, and preparing for my future career. Every opportunity I’ve earned has come from being consistent, showing up, and continuing to improve my craft.
What sets me apart is my work ethic and my ability to connect with the people I’m photographing. As an athlete myself, I understand the emotions and dedication behind every play, which helps me capture authentic moments. I’m always looking to improve, learn new techniques, and create work that leaves a lasting impression while continuing to grow both as a creative and as a leader in my community.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
One of the biggest sources of inspiration for me is music. I use Apple Music every day, and it helps me stay motivated whether I’m working out, editing photos, studying, or just clearing my mind. My favorite artist is Juice WRLD because his music is relatable and inspires me to keep pushing through challenges. I also listen to TopOppGen and a variety of other mainstream artists depending on the mood. Music helps me stay focused, motivated, and creative, and it plays a big role in both my personal life and my work as a photographer.
