Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Rita Renee.
Hi Dr. Rita , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story is one of resilience, reinvention, faith, and finding the courage to use my voice.
I became a mother at 16 and entered adulthood carrying responsibilities—and wounds—that I did not always know how to navigate. My early life included childhood trauma, an abusive first marriage, and seasons when I struggled to recognize my own value. For many years, I learned how to survive, care for others, and keep moving forward, even when I did not yet have the language to describe what I had experienced.
Nursing became one of the first ways I discovered my ability to serve, lead, and advocate for others. Over more than 35 years as a registered nurse, including two decades in corporate case management, I gained invaluable experience in communication, leadership, problem-solving, and helping people navigate complex situations. At the same time, I continued investing in my education, earning advanced degrees in business, theology, leadership and organizational development, and theocentric psychology. Each chapter added another layer to the work I was being prepared to do.
In 2010, I founded Women at the Well Living Water Ministries after recognizing that many women were carrying pain in silence while trying to lead families, ministries, businesses, and communities. What began as an online Bible study grew into a broader mission to help women heal, rediscover their identity, and move forward with faith and purpose.
Writing also became part of my healing and leadership journey. I went on to become the author of more than 14 books, including best-selling titles, using my experiences to remind others that their past does not disqualify them from purpose. My book Stay in the Ring represents one of the central lessons of my life: challenges may knock us down, but they do not have the authority to determine how our story ends.
Today, I am a global keynote speaker, two-time TEDx speaker, best-selling author, and Executive Leadership and Voice Strategist. Through speaking, consulting, workshops, publishing, and strategic coaching, I help leaders, entrepreneurs, and purpose-driven women come off mute, step out of the shadows, and communicate their value with clarity and confidence.
My journey was not a straight line, and it certainly was not without hardship. However, every season—from teenage motherhood and trauma to nursing, ministry, entrepreneurship, authorship, and international speaking—has helped shape the work I do today. I now use the voice I once struggled to find to help others recognize that their story is not something to hide. It can become the very platform through which they lead, serve, and create lasting impact.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. My journey has included childhood trauma, becoming a mother at 16, surviving an abusive marriage, and navigating seasons when I questioned my value, identity, and voice. For many years, I became skilled at caring for everyone else while quietly carrying pain that I had not fully processed myself.
I also faced the challenge of rebuilding my life while balancing family, a demanding nursing career, continued education, ministry, entrepreneurship, and leadership responsibilities. There were seasons when I felt overlooked, underestimated, or placed into boxes that did not reflect the fullness of who I was or what I had been called to do. I experienced setbacks, disappointment, rejection, and moments when opportunities did not unfold the way I expected.
One of my greatest struggles was learning that survival and healing are not the same thing. I had learned how to keep going, but I also had to confront the experiences that had shaped my confidence, decisions, and relationships. That process required faith, forgiveness, accountability, healthy boundaries, and the courage to begin again.
Building a business and expanding my work as an author and speaker also came with challenges. I had to learn how to communicate my value, become visible, embrace new opportunities, and stop waiting for permission to use my voice. There were times when I invested in the wrong opportunities, trusted the wrong people, or had to adjust my plans after unexpected setbacks. Each experience taught me greater discernment and strengthened my leadership.
The road has not been easy, but it has been meaningful. My challenges did not disqualify me; they developed me. They gave me compassion for people who feel unheard, overlooked, or uncertain about their next chapter. Today, I do not share my story from a place of defeat. I share it as evidence that healing is possible, purpose can emerge from painful places, and it is never too late to come off mute and become who you were created to be.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is **Dr. Rita Renee | The Ultimate PowerHouse Coach**.
I help leaders, entrepreneurs, executives, authors, and purpose-driven women move from being overlooked, unheard, or uncertain to communicating with clarity, confidence, and authority. My work centers on executive leadership, voice strategy, visibility, public speaking, personal branding, and helping people turn their experiences and expertise into messages that create meaningful impact.
I am known for helping people come off mute, step out of the shadows, and own the value of their voice. My clients are often accomplished individuals who have strong ideas, powerful stories, and valuable expertise but struggle to clearly articulate who they are, what they do, and why their work matters. I help them develop language that reflects their value, strengthen their presence, and prepare to lead from stages, boardrooms, media platforms, workshops, and other influential spaces.
My services include keynote speaking, leadership and communication workshops, voice and visibility strategy, speaker development, book coaching, publishing support, media and press-release services, and strategic business guidance. Through my workshops and signature frameworks, I help clients identify the story only they can tell, communicate their value in memorable language, and recognize the moments when their voice is needed most.
What sets my brand apart is the combination of lived experience, professional expertise, spiritual foundation, and practical strategy. I bring more than 35 years of experience as a registered nurse, two decades of corporate leadership experience, advanced education in business, theology, psychology, and leadership development, and extensive experience as an entrepreneur, author, global keynote speaker, and two-time TEDx speaker. I do not simply inspire people to speak; I help them determine what to say, how to say it, and how to strategically use their voice to expand their influence.
I am most proud that my brand gives people permission to stop minimizing themselves. It creates space for individuals who have survived difficult experiences, changed careers, started over, or spent years supporting others to recognize that they still have something valuable to contribute.
The message at the heart of my brand is simple: your voice is not a machine that must constantly perform—it is an instrument that must be developed, protected, and used with intention. I want readers to know that they do not have to remain hidden, silent, or waiting for someone else’s permission. Their experiences, expertise, and story can become the foundation for leadership, visibility, service, and lasting impact.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as living in alignment with my purpose, using my gifts responsibly, and creating an impact that extends beyond personal recognition.
Success is not simply measured by titles, income, awards, book sales, or the number of stages I have stood on. Those accomplishments are meaningful, but they are not the foundation of my definition. For me, success is being faithful to what God has called me to do, continuing to grow, and using my voice to help others recognize the value of their own.
I also believe success includes having the courage to evolve. It means knowing when to move forward, when to rest, when to set boundaries, and when to release opportunities that no longer align with who you are becoming. It is being able to serve others without losing yourself in the process.
Ultimately, success is when the work I do helps someone heal, gain clarity, speak with confidence, write the book, launch the idea, lead more effectively, or step into a room they once believed was beyond their reach. If my life and work give another person permission to come off mute and walk boldly in purpose, then I consider that success.
