Rising Stars: Meet Fat Mack of North Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fat Mack.

Hi Fat, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out making freestyle videos with my friend’s older brother who was already rapping at the time. Eventually he encouraged me to take music more serious which led to me and his brother recording and mixing our own tracks off an mp3 player. A couple years later after almost giving up music I met my label mate Cidy Pyramids through a mutual friend and basically just started recording and cranking out songs in his garage. In that time I met plenty of other artist including William Prize (another label mate) and formed Azus Records. While still trying to build a fan base I ran into James Vader who was running a very popular showcase called “26.two6ix” and the rest is history

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. It was a very crazy journey being that I wasn’t really known for my music so it was plenty of nights of going out by myself plenty of times and just throwing myself in spaces to make the connections and meet the people in order to even have somewhat of a face in the music scene

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a rapper. Out of all the things I’m proud of the one thing that I really gets to me is probably just the love I receive. Being someone that no one knew I feel like people embraced me with open arms and tried my best to give them the same love in return. I feel though what sets apart from others is probably my mystique. For a person that’s always in the mix I found a perfect balance of also staying out of the way

How do you think about happiness?
Music (any form of art in general for real) and family. These two things really made me who I am today so I hold them as close to my heart as possible
