Today we’d like to introduce you to Wine & Design Greensboro.
Can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Wine & Design Greensboro is part of my journey of turning creativity, community, and entrepreneurship into something people can experience together. What started as a love for creating memorable experiences grew into an opportunity to bring a space to Greensboro where people could relax, connect, celebrate, and express themselves through art.
As we grew, I realized Wine & Design was about so much more than painting and wine. It became a place for date nights, birthdays, girls’ nights, team-building experiences, fundraisers, private celebrations, and community events. Every event gives people an opportunity to put their phones down, be creative, laugh, and create memories together.
Getting to where we are today has taken a lot of learning, relationship-building, and listening to our community. We’ve continued to evolve our events and experiences based on what people want, while staying true to our goal of creating a welcoming environment where everyone can feel comfortable being creative.
I’m especially proud of the relationships we’ve built in Greensboro and the way Wine & Design has become a place where businesses, families, friends, nonprofits, and community organizations can come together. For us, the most rewarding part has never just been watching someone create a beautiful painting—it’s watching people leave with a smile, a new connection, or a memory they’ll talk about long after the event is over.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, and honestly, I think that’s part of what makes the journey meaningful. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to navigate the business side while still protecting the creative and community-centered experience that makes Wine & Design special.
Like many small businesses, we’ve had to navigate changes in consumer spending, competition, staffing, marketing, and simply figuring out how to consistently get people through the door. There have also been seasons where we had to step back, reassess what was working, and be willing to try something different.
One of the biggest lessons has been that you can’t be afraid to evolve. We’ve learned to listen closely to our customers and the Greensboro community and create experiences that meet people where they are—from date nights and girls’ nights to corporate team building, fundraisers, private events, and new creative experiences.
The challenges have definitely stretched us, but they’ve also made us more resilient and intentional. Every difficult season has taught us something about leadership, customer experience, and the importance of building genuine relationships. I think those lessons are a big part of why we’re still growing and finding new ways to serve our community today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Wine & Design Greensboro, we specialize in creating experiences that bring people together through art, creativity, and connection. While painting is at the heart of what we do, our work goes far beyond a traditional paint-and-sip.
We’re known for creating an atmosphere where people can come exactly as they are, have fun, try something new, and make memories. You don’t have to consider yourself an artist to enjoy Wine & Design—that’s part of the magic. Our goal is to make creativity feel approachable, social, and exciting.
What we’re most proud of is the community we’ve built around the business. We’ve been able to partner with organizations, nonprofits, families, businesses, and individuals to create experiences that are meaningful to them. Seeing people celebrate milestones, reconnect with loved ones, build relationships with coworkers, or simply have a night where they can relax and laugh together means so much to us.
We think what sets Wine & Design Greensboro apart is our ability to personalize the experience. We don’t just want people to attend an event; we want them to feel like the experience was created with them in mind. We’re constantly looking for creative ways to serve our community, collaborate with local organizations, and introduce people to new experiences.
Ultimately, we’re proud to be a place where creativity and connection meet. The painting is what brings people through the door, but the relationships, memories, and experiences are what keep them coming back.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
We believe risk-taking is less about being fearless and more about being willing to move forward when you don’t have all the answers. As entrepreneurs, we have to be comfortable with uncertainty because there will rarely be a moment when everything feels perfectly safe or perfectly timed.
One of the biggest risks has been continuing to invest in Wine & Design Greensboro and in our vision for growth during seasons when the outcome wasn’t guaranteed. There have been moments when it would have been easier to play it safe, but we’ve learned that growth often requires making a decision, trusting instincts, and being willing to adjust along the way.
We also think risk should be intentional. We’re not people who believe in taking risks just for the sake of saying we took one. We ask ourselves, “What is the potential impact, what do we stand to learn, and does this decision align with the bigger vision?” If the answer is yes, we’re willing to take the leap.
Some of the best opportunities we’ve had have come from saying yes to something new—a new type of event, a new partnership, a new audience, or a new way of serving our community. Not every risk has worked out exactly as planned, but even the ones that didn’t have given us valuable lessons.
For us, the biggest risk would actually be refusing to grow because of fear of failure. We’d rather take a thoughtful risk, learn from it, and keep moving than look back and wonder what could have happened if we had simply been willing to try.
