Community Highlights: Meet Pete Richardson of Lake Gaston Pizza & More

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pete Richardson.

Hi Pete , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been in the Restaurant industry since 1986 in some form or fashion. I tried desk jobs, sales jobs and trade jobs but cooking was my calling. I attended culinary school and have taken several other culinary classes along the way. Everything from Chili Cook-Offs, Meat Smoking, Seafood, Mexican and recently a Sushi class. My wife (Tami) and I have owned Lake Gaston Pizza & More since 2016 and absolutely “Love” what We do”. The restaurant business is a full time commitment and you have to dedicate your life to it as well as the people that work for you and those that support you.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any business, you have your good days and your bad. Building a strong customer base got us through COVID and allowed us to expand from an 800 sq foot dining room to a 4,000 sq foot dining room that is the largest in the area. Being that we’re in a Tourist Town (Lake Gaston, NC/VA) we have to adapt to the slower season between Labor Day and Memorial Day. Therefore we impliment “Monthly Specials” that expands our menu items tremendously. It keeps the locals coming in for a variety of different foods to satisfy their cravings.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Lake Gaston Pizza & More is a staple in the community and a “Must Try” while in the area. Customers call it there “Go To” place. We specialize in Pizza, Wings, Subs and Home Cooking. Everything from homemade sauces, fresh cut pizza toppings, fresh dough made daily, “Cut to order” salads and so much more. Everything from Oysters, Fish, Shrimp to Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf, Slow simmered Pot Roast and Homemade Soups, that’s why we’re “More” than just pizza. We are strongly engaged in our community from our Non-Profit event “Lake-A-Palooza”, held every Labor Day weekend for the past 12 years to our Annual Christmas Toy Drive since 2016 and just recently Raffling off a New Golf Cart to provide two College Scholarships for local students. We support our community because our community supports us. That’s why they say “Lake Gaston Pizza & More…C’mon Y’all…Ya Gotta Be Here!

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We are truly blessed for the support the community provides us and are humbled by the achievements we’ve received from them. We’re willing to help anyone in anyway we can. The easiest way to set up an appointment is to email Pete at LKGPIZZA@GMAIL.COM.
