Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Dowdy.
Hi Daniel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in the historical Hayti District of Durham North Carolina with my 4 sisters and my younger brother. I’ve always found comfort in various genres of music from classical to metal but never envisioned that comfort would inspire me to start making music on my own. This journey has been rewarding and at times difficult but I wouldn’t change a thing about it because everyday gives me inspiration and motivation to keep telling the story of a bull city native trying to earn his place amongst the black Wall Street legends
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This is a cut throat industry so obstacles are always in your way. Trying to find my lane was an initial struggle because what do I say? Do I continue to remind fans how dangerous my city is? I decide to shed light on the what makes my city unique and beautiful.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a rapper mama lol
I’m proud of myself everyday for not giving up and being consistent. Being an independent artist is a roller coaster of emotions, and you never know who is out for self or who genially wants to see succeed.
My storytelling sets me apart from other artist. I grew up like most people making good and bad choices in pursuit of a greater life.
