Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent Alessi.
Hi Vincent, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
6 Story Pyramid is an alternative rock band out of Charlotte, NC. Forming in April of 2021, the band released their first single in March of 2023, but were quick to find their true sound. The bands current lineup consisting of Vincent Alessi (Songwriter/Frontman/Guitarist) and Jakob Ferrell (Drums), the duo defines horizons with a unique touch to a traditional two piece band. The bands inspirations rein from Queens of the Stone Age, Highly Suspect, and Royal Blood.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s no such thing as a smooth road, and it wouldn’t mean anything if there was such thing. Every road gets a pot hole after a while, and it gets filled back up and that’s kinda how the band operates. Life is filled with unpaved roads and even though they get fixed down the ways, you can always go back and see your mistakes and grow from them.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We take heavy pride in our live show. As it is just the two of us, we found a sound that can compliment our energy and music with little members possible. I think we stand out in the CLT scene because of this. The way we get bass and guitar is simply by splitting the guitar chain through a guitar amp and a bass amp 1 octave down. We also run synth tracks and ambient tracks through our drum pad throughout select songs. We’ve received multiple compliments on our sound and questions how it’s done. So we are very appreciative about the feedback and support we gain.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I don’t believe in risks when it comes to a creative passion. For example, I think a lot of artists feel they need to write a similar sound to what they’ve done before, and end up writing part 2 of the last album. It’s no fun writing the same album twice, especially as you grow away from older inspirations. I think the cool thing with us is that we’re never gonna have an album identical to a previous, and I respect bands that do that. Highly Suspect, Queens of the stone age, and the black keys are all perfect examples of what I mean. I guess the “risk” is putting something you’ve worked on for years to not be as loved because it’s too different sounding, but as long as the artist is pleased with their art there is no issue. One big leap we took was going from a 4 piece to a 2 piece and booking a show a month out. This really forced us to problem solve and allow us to create a new show style quick and efficient
