Today we’d like to introduce you to Anaja Clayton.
Hi Anaja , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Pretty Blinkk Aesthetics began as a vision I had to create a space where beauty and self-care could come together in a luxurious, intentional way. What started as an idea and a desire to build something of my own has grown into a full-service beauty and self-care brand, with my salon becoming the home of that vision.
Throughout the journey, I’ve had to learn how to wear many different hats—not only as an esthetician, but also as a business owner, content creator, marketer, and entrepreneur. I’ve grown through the trial and error of building a business, learning when to pivot, investing in myself and my education, expanding my services, rebranding, and becoming more intentional about the experience I want every client to have.
One of the biggest changes has been realizing that Pretty Blinkk is about so much more than providing a service. I want people to feel cared for, confident, and reminded that taking care of themselves is something they deserve. That vision has shaped everything from my signature facial experiences to the atmosphere of my salon and the products I’ve created.
Today, I’m in a really exciting season of growth. I’m continuing to expand Pretty Blinkk, create new opportunities, collaborate with brands, grow my presence in the beauty industry, and build a business that reflects the woman and entrepreneur I’m becoming. Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for every stage of the journey because each season taught me something I needed for the next one. What started as a dream has become something tangible, and I’m excited about where God is continuing to take it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been learning that being good at what you do and knowing how to run a business are two completely different things. I’ve had to teach myself everything from marketing and content creation to finances, client retention, branding, and creating systems that allow the business to grow beyond just me.
There have also been seasons where I questioned whether I was moving fast enough or doing enough. Entrepreneurship can be difficult because you can put so much time, money, and energy into something without immediately seeing the results you’re hoping for. I’ve had to learn patience, consistency, and how to keep showing up even when things aren’t moving as quickly as I imagined.
Another challenge has been balancing entrepreneurship with finishing my degree and navigating my own personal growth at the same time. There have been moments when I felt like I had to choose between being a student and being a business owner, but I’ve learned how to give myself grace and understand that everything doesn’t have to happen at once.
Looking back, I’m actually grateful for many of those difficult seasons because they forced me to become more resourceful, disciplined, and confident. They taught me that growth isn’t always going to look like a major breakthrough. Sometimes growth looks like learning from a mistake, trying again, investing in yourself, or simply refusing to give up. I’m still learning, but I’m much more comfortable with the process now.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pretty Blinkk Aesthetics Luxury Salon & Spa?
Pretty Blinkk Aesthetics Luxury Salon & Spa is a beauty and self-care brand centered around creating intentional, elevated experiences that allow people to prioritize themselves. I specialize in advanced esthetic services, including customized facials, dermaplaning, waxing, and other skin-focused treatments, while continuing to expand my education and services as the industry evolves.
What sets Pretty Blinkk apart is the experience I strive to create. I don’t want clients to feel like they’re simply coming in for a facial or a wax and leaving. I want them to feel cared for, relaxed, confident, and genuinely excited to return. From the atmosphere of my salon to the details incorporated into my services, I pay attention to the little things that make self-care feel luxurious and intentional.
I’m especially proud of how Pretty Blinkk has evolved from an idea into a growing brand. I’ve expanded my service offerings, invested in advanced esthetics education and equipment, developed my own branded products, continued building my salon environment, and begun creating opportunities for collaborations and partnerships. I’m also proud that my business has become a reflection of my creativity and personality rather than simply being a place where I provide services.
Ultimately, I want Pretty Blinkk to remind people that self-care is not something they have to feel guilty about. It’s something they deserve. My goal is to continue building Pretty Blinkk into a recognizable beauty and lifestyle brand while creating experiences that make people feel beautiful, confident, and cared for.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I believe the beauty and aesthetics industry is going to continue moving toward a much more personalized, technology-driven, and holistic approach to self-care over the next 5–10 years. Clients are becoming more educated about their skin and are looking for treatments that are customized to their individual concerns rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I think we’ll continue to see growth in advanced esthetic technology, preventative skincare, customized treatment plans, and services that combine visible results with relaxation and wellness.
I also think the industry will continue to blur the lines between beauty and overall self-care. People are becoming more intentional about how they spend their time and money, and they want experiences that make them feel good mentally and physically while also helping them look their best. That is something I’m already seeing through the way clients respond to elevated facial experiences and the attention to detail within the spa environment.
Another major shift I see is the growth of independent beauty professionals and small businesses building strong personal brands. Social media and digital platforms have made it possible for estheticians and other beauty professionals to educate their audiences, build communities, collaborate with brands, and create businesses that extend beyond a traditional service-based model.
Personally, I’m excited to continue learning and adapting as the industry evolves. I want Pretty Blinkk to grow alongside those changes while staying true to what makes the brand special: luxury, education, personalized care, and making self-care feel intentional and accessible. I don’t think the future of beauty is simply about having the newest treatment or technology—it’s about knowing how to use innovation to create better experiences and better outcomes for the people we serve.
