Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Walls.
Hi Matt, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into plumbing wasn’t something I had planned from the beginning. Before I ever became a plumber, I was actually digging graves. It was hard work, but I knew I wanted to find something that gave me a greater sense of purpose and an opportunity to build a future.
That’s when I went to work for a plumbing company. What started as simply a job quickly turned into something much more. I found that I genuinely enjoyed the work, the problem solving, the hands on nature of the trade, and especially the satisfaction of being able to help people when they needed it most.
I was fortunate to have someone take me under their wing and teach me the trade. I worked hard, learned everything I could, and really fell in love with plumbing. The more I learned, the more I realized this was something I could build a career around.
Eventually, I moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, and decided to take a leap of faith and start my own plumbing company. That was the beginning of Matthew’s Plumbing Solutions.
Looking back, it’s pretty amazing to think that a job I took after digging graves would lead me to discover my passion and ultimately build a company of my own. What started as learning a trade has become so much more, a business, a team, and an opportunity to serve people in the community I now call home.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely has not been smooth. Owning a business is a roller coaster, with incredible highs and some really difficult lows. Less than eight months ago, I reached a point where I honestly wasn’t sure what to do next. I had to step back, lean into God, and trust Him in a way I hadn’t before.
I started focusing on obeying His commands and allowing Him to lead instead of trying to figure everything out on my own. Since then, things have changed in ways I couldn’t have orchestrated myself. We are still working hard, still facing challenges, and still learning, but it feels like we are climbing the mountain now.
That season taught me that sometimes the hardest moments are the ones that force you to stop trying to control everything and truly surrender it to God.

Matthew’s Plumbing Solutions is a family owned plumbing company serving Raleigh and the surrounding areas. We provide residential and commercial plumbing services, from everyday repairs and maintenance to larger plumbing projects and new construction.
But we are much more than just a plumbing company. We have built our business around the belief that how you serve people matters just as much as the work you do. We want every customer to feel respected, informed, and taken care of from the moment they call us to the moment we leave their home.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that may surprise people is how deeply my faith influences both who I am and how I run my business. Faith is not just something I talk about on Sundays. It has become the foundation for how I make decisions, lead my team, treat people, and navigate difficult seasons.
I haven’t always operated that way. One of the biggest changes in my life and in my business has come from learning to truly trust God and follow His direction, even when I don’t understand where He is leading me. My faith has changed the way I view success, challenges, leadership, and even failure.
Matthew’s Plumbing Solutions is a reflection of those values. We believe in serving people with integrity, leading with courage and joy, and doing the right thing even when it is difficult. I’m proud that my faith is becoming more visible in the way we lead and serve, because ultimately, I want the business we build to honor God and positively impact the people around us.
