Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Ross.
Hi Kim, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got my start as a child watching my father flat-foot in the hills of Southwest Virginia. I was amazed at the way he would float across the floor when the music starting playing. Being shy, I would hide and try to dance like him. Finally, my friend, Donna, urged me to dance in front of people and helped me to get over my shyness, which was when I was about 18 years old. After that, there was no stopping me I wanted to dance everywhere! Fast forward to 2009 when I formed the J Creek Cloggers and then in 2022 my son, Zeb Ross went viral when we were dancing at Darnell Farms in Bryson City, NC. After that, the whole world was introduced to the J Creek Cloggers, and the rest is history!
Since going viral, the dance team has been as far as California and many many other states. Zeb appeared on the Country Music Awards, his dance moves made it into Fornite with the emote being (Fast Feet), and the dance team as a whole have been in music videos, a jeans commercial, etc.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, at first it was overwhelming trying to create social media platforms, fielding all the calls/emails that kept coming in, and trying to find the right balance of how to handle things.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Not only do I dance, but I am a mother of two wonderful boys. I love to dance, hike, and play card games.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans are continuing to focus on the J Creek Cloggers, maybe write a book, and watch my grandchildren grow up!.
