Today we’d like to introduce you to Jensen Nichol.
Hi Jensen , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Charlotte, so my love for the Carolinas really started long before social media. Growing up, my dad was always taking me on little adventures, day trips, and showing me new places, and I think that’s where my love for exploring really came from.
I started sharing places I genuinely loved and things to do around the Carolinas, and over time, people started looking to my page for ideas on where to eat, what to do, and places they may not have discovered otherwise. What started as something I simply enjoyed doing eventually grew into my full-time career.
Today, I get to work with businesses, destinations, and brands throughout North and South Carolina while sharing the places that make this area so special. One of my favorite parts is knowing that a video can introduce thousands of people to a local business or give someone an idea for their next weekend adventure. It’s pretty incredible that something that started from simply loving where I’m from has turned into what I get to do every day.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The hardest road for me actually came before any of this. I lost my dad when I was 19, and that completely changed my life. He was the person who gave me my love for exploring and going on adventures, so losing him at such a young age was incredibly difficult.
In a lot of ways, what I do now has actually been really healing for me. I get to explore the Carolinas, revisit places and experiences that remind me of him, and continue that sense of adventure he gave me growing up. Of course, building a business and putting yourself out there comes with challenges, but I feel incredibly grateful that my career has become something that brings me so much joy and keeps a part of my dad with me along the way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a full-time content creator focused on showcasing the best of the Carolinas, from restaurants and hidden gems to new openings, experiences, travel, and everything in between. I was born and raised in Charlotte, so I think what sets me apart is that I’m not just discovering these places for the first time. I have a real connection to this area and love sharing both the places I grew up with and the new things constantly popping up around us.
I’m probably most known for making people want to get out and actually experience the places I share. I try to make my content feel like a friend telling you, “You have to go here,” rather than a traditional review.
What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built and the impact that community can have. Seeing a small business get packed after I post about them, hearing that someone planned an entire weekend around my recommendations, or watching people discover a part of the Carolinas they didn’t know existed is still really special to me. At the end of the day, I think what sets me apart is that I genuinely love where I’m from, and I think people can feel that through my content.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My dad definitely deserves a lot of the credit. He was my biggest cheerleader growing up and the person who gave me that sense of adventure in the first place. Even though he never got to see what this has become, so much of what I do today was inspired by him.
I also have to give a lot of credit to the local businesses and brands that believed in me, especially early on. Every business that welcomed me in, trusted me to tell their story, shared my content, or chose to work with me helped me build this into what it is today.
And honestly, my community deserves a huge amount of credit too. The people who follow along, send me places they think I need to visit, share my videos with their friends, and actually go support the businesses I feature are the reason I’m able to do this for a living. It really wouldn’t exist without them.
