Today we’d like to introduce you to Elena Granovsky.
Hi Elena, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story didn’t start with design — it started with feeling. Painting was my first language, and it still is; even now, I paint several times a year to stay connected to where it all began.
From there, I earned my BFA in Interior Design, and architecture pulled me in next. Fifteen years in corporate architecture and design followed — structure, precision, discipline, and a portfolio that took me everywhere: “Seven Fish restaurant”in Key West, FL; healthcare and government renovations across Florida and North Carolina; the Atlanta airport concourse and hotel projects; residential work throughout Georgia, North Carolina, Florida. It built the foundation everything else stands on.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped seeing spaces as interiors and started seeing them as portraits — of the people who live in them, work in them, gather in them.
Eventually, I took the leap and opened Elen Granovsky Studio. Today, my work spans interiors, decor, and event styling — commercial spaces, private homes, seasonal installations, atmospheres that make a brand step into the spotlight.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I love understanding a client’s character and translating it into a place that feels right, somewhere people want to stay and return to. I’ve also realized an interior designer is, in a way, a psychologist— reading tension, finding balance, helping things move freely again. Working with couples, or several owners on one project, is like tuning an instrument: everyone has their own pitch, and my job is bringing it all into harmony.
This industry runs on word of mouth, so building my own studio meant learning to put myself out there — with clients, with vendors, in rooms where I wasn’t always sure I had enough to offer yet. Confidence like that is a muscle; the more I showed up, the more it grew.
Running a business also means wearing every hat at once — designer, accountant, project manager, marketer. The design work is the fun part; everything else is the real learning curve. But the freedom of building something entirely my own has made it the most challenging, most fulfilling thing I’ve done.
We’ve been impressed with Elen Granovsky Studio, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Elen Granovsky Studio – is an interior design studio built on one core belief: every space should have soul and personality. Whether it’s a commercial space, a private residence, or a seasonal installation, I treat all of it like storytelling — because a space isn’t just a backdrop, it’s a portrait of the people behind it.
We specialize in three connected areas: interior design, decor, and event styling. On the design side, that means everything from full residential interiors to commercial builds. On the styling side, we create decor and event atmospheres — visual moments that help a brand or a celebration step into the spotlight.
I don’t design to one signature style — I love working eclectically, mixing and blending different interior aesthetics into something layered and personal rather than predictable. And every project gets a signature touch: I always bring in one custom piece, sometimes an original painting or a piece of decor I’ve sourced or made myself — something that gives the space a heartbeat you won’t find anywhere else.
And especially in commercial work, I’d add full-circle thinking. I don’t see design as finishing when the last piece of furniture is placed — I’ve seen a real need for businesses to launch their new spaces well, too. That’s why I also offer media and marketing support, along with grand opening and anniversary event planning, helping clients reach both new and loyal customers. A beautiful space deserves a beautiful debut.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Adaptability. Every client, every space, every budget asks for something different, and I’ve learned that the designers who thrive aren’t the ones with the loudest signature style — they’re the ones who can listen, shift, and still stay true to their eye.
I’d also say professionalism, clear communication, and follow-through.
Budget is never a barrier in my process — it’s simply part of the design. I believe every price point deserves a space that’s functional and beautifully balanced, and I take real pride in helping clients feel confident and at ease with their investment, understanding exactly what they’re getting and why it’s worth it.
Underneath all of it is curiosity. I’m genuinely interested in people: how they live, what makes them comfortable, what they need in a space even when they can’t quite say it.
