Check Out Trev Truth’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trev Truth.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a kid I was actually embarrassed or very secretive about any or all musical talent I had. I spent a lot of my free time gaming or playing sports like any other kid but sometimes I would give people glimpses like singing in church choir or singing in chorus class but I would genuinely turn all advances to pursue it down, Time went on my brother (who has always loved music and wasn’t ashamed to show it, and even participated in talent shows and won) introduced me to a path to do music that wasn’t so linear like chorus or choir. My brother got his own computer and started doing his own music production and he introduced me to it. I even hopped on a couple of his songs as a secret and under a secret alias to hide it once more. My brother would even collaborate with my cousin as would I, but still remain hidden. As time passed I dove down the path of a high school athlete and then to college playing football till eventually I found myself missing something a somewhat purpose or fulfillment in my life. I had friends in my friend group who would rap and go to the studio but I was playing the supportive friend role. One of my friends asked me to do some vocals or adlibs on his song. The moment I heard my voice play back in the head phones I fell in love immediately. My friend encouraged me to keep going and from then on I developed my craft and love for the grind of making music and being a music artist. A lot of bumps in the road hit me. Things such as being scammed out of money, losing friends, heartbreaking family deaths and even genuinely balancing school with music was difficult. After alot of hard ships I ended up meeting a lot of great people like my media manager Velmatic, my extremely ambitious manager Yeli and my mentor/big brother/ mixing engineer/ everything Ray Mays who is also a very incredible artist out of New York. All of these things have led me to become who I am and lead me to my truth, “Trev Truth”.

It took alot of sacrifice, losing sleep losing out on fun losing out on friendships and relationships. I even lost friends due to me being so focused and not wanting to be a “Yes Man” or even taking part in something that doesn’t benefit me. You have to be delusional to be successful. Delusional in the fact that this is your only option and it will work no matter what.

alot of my music speaks on this like projects like “Intentional” and “Trust Who” and “Millennium”. My newest Ep called “Still Here’ really shows that through everything that I am still here. I’ve been given great opportunities to be in things like the “2-6 Cypher” and open up for the Ying Yang Twins at the Dogwood Festival in Fayetteville. I’ve been blessed so much that me stopping would be a disservice to myself, my team and my family.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I lost a-lot of friends chasing music, they either thought what I was doing was ridiculous or they thought I should one route and I chose another one

I lost a-lot of money with no return fully investing in myself.

I lost sleep and recreational time. It would be times where I would go serve tables at Olive Garden take that money to go record at the studio and not even eat food, then I’d be at the studio till 4am. Then I’d wake up for my 8am class and do it all over again.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a music artist I go by Trev Truth and I categorize myself as a melodic rapper. I also love to write and executive produce for people as well.. I’m most proud for my performances at the Dogwood Festival and my appearance coming soon at the Charlotte Confluence Conference. What sets me apart from other people is my creativity and shocking vocal talent when it comes to creating melodies in songs. I am also good at pulling emotions in to songs as well.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
