Today we’d like to introduce you to Andi Engel.
Hi Andi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I decided to become an audiologist after my own experiences with frequent ear infections as a child. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of environments, including Ear, Nose, and Throat practices, as a manufacturer representative, and in private practice. I chose to work in private practice because it allows me to provide personalized, high-quality care and ensure that my patients receive the time and attention they deserve.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I purchased my practice just nine months before the start of a global pandemic, which certainly threw both me and the business a curveball! We were able to get creative, adapt to the challenges, and continue providing care and support to our patients. It was a challenging experience, but I learned so much through the process and am incredibly proud of how we navigated it together.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Hearing & Audiology Services?
Untreated hearing problems, regardless of their severity, can contribute to social isolation, anxiety, and depression. Serving Raleigh, NC for over a decade, our practice is focused on improving our patients’ quality of life through personalized care and state-of-the-art hearing technology.
We work with each patient to develop an ongoing, customized treatment plan that best meets their individual needs. Treatment plans may include otoscopic inspections, comprehensive hearing evaluations, hearing aid evaluations and consultations, as well as hearing aid fittings, follow-up care, and maintenance.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I feel the hearing industry continues to improve and evolve, and I’m excited about the possibilities that new technology brings. Artificial intelligence (AI) has become an important tool in hearing technology, helping to reduce background noise, improve speech understanding, and learn each wearer’s preferences for a more personalized listening experience.
Looking toward the future, I also hope to see our industry place a greater emphasis on prevention and hearing health. By focusing on hearing protection, early detection, and education, we can work toward reducing the impact and progression of hearing loss and helping more people maintain their hearing health throughout their lives.
