Hidden Gems: Meet Caitlyn Caban of Caban & Co. Specialty Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlyn Caban.

Hi Caitlyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After graduating high school in 2013, I had no idea what I wanted to pursue as a career. I tried a few different jobs and majors in college but none of them felt like the right fit for me. I decided to go to school for Business and while I was attending college got a job as front desk at a busy salon… I was then promoted to manager and thats when it calls clicked for me. I realized that I loved the hair industry and running a salon was something I felt came natural to me. So I decided to take the plunge and go to cosmetology school. I continued to pursue my Bachelors in Business Management at UNCG while working and while in cosmetology school. It was a crazy time in my life and I was extremely busy I knew that all the hard work and time that I was investing would pay off and it did! I graduated cosmetology school in December 2018 and opened up my own studio focusing on blonding, balayaging, and hair extensions with two chairs right out of school.

In May of 2019, I graduated with my B.A in Business Management from UNCG and about a month later took the risk of opening a salon space with six chairs.

In December of 2020, I decided to expand my salon into a 3,000 sq. ft. space with nine chairs and it has been the best decision yet,

I have a salon with an incredible reputation and team of specialists that make the space what it is today.

Today Caban & Co. Specialty Salon is one of the few specialty salons in the area. We are known for our blondes and hair extensions and I couldn’t be more proud of the company I am building.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some struggles along the way were finishing two schools at the same time, that was very overwhelming for me. As far as being a business owner, there are always struggles, it’s never smooth sailing, but hey thats what makes me love being a business owner!

Caban & Co. Specialty Salon focuses on specializing in Blonding, Balayage, and Hair Extension Services. We are known for empowering women through providing luxury hair services that are life-changing.

I am the most proud of the team that I have built within my brand and how truly empowering it is to be inside of the salon.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
In grade school, I would resell pencils and school supplies to my classmates and had a little business off of that… I guess thats when the entrepreneur in me began!
