I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
In the beginning, I struggled quite a bit 20 years ago getting a Facial was a luxury or for someone who had really bad acne and breakouts. For that reason, I struggled with getting clients to receive facials as well as body waxing. My biggest struggle was being an African-American Esthetician and the early 2000s late 90s. It was extremely difficult to break through a European-based Skincare industry and to find peers and business owners, other aestheticians and successful skincare companies that catered in African-American skin and their needs. With all the struggles and obstacles and all the discrimination I endured in a billion-dollar industry that was very white with almost no advertisements with people that looked like me. I pushed through and I went back to school: I am a certified pharmacy technician, I am a master cosmetologist master aesthetician, I am also a certified Reiki massage therapist certified reflexologist certified in aromatherapy as well as a B.A in Marketing with an emphasis in Cosmetics & Fragrance. All of the struggles and obstacles helped me to continue to just build my portfolio. I wanted to make sure that any beauty company a reason to say no to me when it came to my experience for that reason, The Hue Solution was born.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I found mentors and support through Esthetician groups skin on Facebook and colleagues. However, what works best for me was to continue to Gain more education by attending tradeshows taking more classes and just really talking to people in the industry that has been veterans and know the business more than what I know.
