Today we’d like to introduce you to April Clark.
Hi April, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my brand when I was laid off and realized I didn’t have a backup plan. I taught myself the fashion business and made a name for myself as a TV Style Expert, Fashion Editor, Published Fashion Stylist and blogger. I took my fashion entrepreneurial knowledge and packaged it for preteen and teen girls.
We have a business mentorship program where girls sell Miss April Fashion Girl products and learn entrepreneurship though our FASHION GIRL AMBASSADOR PROGRAM.
This year we launched our doll series. The Miss April Fashion Doll shares the story of four girls who love fashion and come together to start a fashion magazine. Miss April is the fashion designer, Miss Bianca is the fashion stylist, Miss Camila is the fashion photographer and Miss Dani is the fashion writer. The dolls teach collaboration over competition and share the entrepreneurship concept to tween girls. Their story is reminiscent of the Babysitters Club from the 80s.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being a new brand, it’s tough breaking into a new industry. Lots of cold calls selling the brand were riddled with rejection. The lesson I’ve learned is persistence and consistency.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The brand is focused on raising a new generation of girlpreneurs. Our products are geared toward highlighting and celebrating the tween girl experience. We do not only sell products that cater to tween girls but we teach them how to have their own brand — not one day but now. Our goal like The Girl Scouts is to teach entrepreneurship to empower girls to take charge of their future.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Girl’s issues matter to me, I use fashion, beauty and business to teach confidence, collaboration and kindness. Experirnce Miss April Fashion Girl this summer at Crabtree Valley Mall for Summer of Style fashion camp.
