
Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra Burnette.
Hi Kendra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I first started with cleaning, organization and interior design projects with family members and close friends. I would just walk into home spaces and get excited to transform a space into something spectacular. I loved the feeling of just being creative and having so many ideas of making a space look and feel peaceful and harmonious.
After several years of perfecting my craft, I launched my business, Klean Bee’s Nest in January 2019. At the time, I was still working a full-time job. I was working 9-10 hours a day at the time and I wasn’t putting the necessary time and energy into my business. I was passionate about starting my business, but I was drained from a job that wasn’t fulfilling for me.
In April of 2020, during the onset of Pandemic, I made the brave decision to leave my job and pursue my business full-time. I then relocated from Raleigh, NC to Charlotte, NC to continue to build my Home Organization brand.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a business owner has its ups and downs. You are the face of the brand, the management, and the person who is advertising and promoting your brand constantly. I wasn’t used to wearing so many hats! Learning so many aspects of running a business was very overwhelming at times. I had to learn about licenses, business insurance, marketing and branding techniques, legalities of protecting your business, creating budgets and time management with newfound freedom.
The road is not always smooth, but the rewards of having ownership of your passion and gift certainty outweighs the momentary hardships. Everything I have learned along this journey of entrepreneurship has taught me how to really push forward even in the times of adverse challenges and obstacles.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a Professional Home Organizer, I specialize in creating home spaces that provide a calming and serene atmosphere. I utilize a specific approach to decluttering overwhelming spaces in home areas. I also implement my artistic talent with Interior Design Styling after organizing home spaces.
I pursued a creative career because transforming home spaces is just pure therapy for me. I am both artistic and very creative with what I do. I take such pleasure in being able to design a beautiful and inviting space.
I am proud of being able to tap into my client’s personality and opening them up to something different that may be outside of their comfort zone. I pride myself on studying my client’s homes and their unique style in order to really fulfill their vision.
I am best known for my Closet Organization transformations. I absolutely love organizing closet spaces!
Any big plans?
I’m looking forward to doing more Organizational Coaching with my clients. I enjoy getting my clients’ homes organized, but I periodically check in with them to ensure that they are able to maintain an organizing system that is functional for them on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
I also plan on building an organizing network for people who are passionate about pursuing a Professional Home Organization career. I am working on developing a Certification Program for people who are interested in home organization projects.
