Daily Inspiration: Meet Gracie Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gracie Smith. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Gracie Smith is a food blogger from Raleigh, N.C. She graduated in May 2016 from William Peace University with a Communications/Public Relations degree. She fell in love with blogging about food during college, and sometime later, “If You Want To Eat, You Have To Cook!” was created. Her blog contains simple recipes that all have easy to find ingredients. Here are the blog and social media links if you would like to follow her culinary journey!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I started my blog as a way to keep track of my recipes. I took classes in college about blogging, photography, and social media and knew pretty quickly that I wanted to be a full-time blogger after I graduated.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My specialty is blogging about food. I’m the most proud of the fact that I can come up with so many new recipes in a week! My blog is different due to the fact that the angle involves basic ingredients that are most likely in your kitchen. I don’t use obscure ingredients that are hard to find. Everything can easily be found in any grocery store.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by how happy the work has made me. Did the recipe turn out how I imagined? If yes, I succeed. I saw a quote about success once and it said, “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” At the end of the day, if I am happy with the way something turned out, then I consider it a success because life is too short to be anything but happy.
