Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikita Gupta.
Hi Nikita, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I initially launched the multicultural lifestyle blog, Growing Up Gupta, because it is not every day that you hear about an African-American woman being married to an Indian man (his parents are from Northern India). The blog was a hobby that has become a premier resource for multicultural/multiracial people, couples, and families.
On the blog, we candidly discuss the joys and challenges of interracial dating and marriage, multicultural parenting, share unseen and unheard cross-cultural love and life narratives, food recipes, culture, book reviews, and more. And as a result of the creation of the blog, I’ve authored a plentitude of books and e-books that are available on Amazon. In addition to launching a multicultural family design store based on my children’s book called I love masala me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, the road has been long and arduous. I’ve had to teach myself everything there is to know about blogging and running a successful website, in addition to how to publish books on Amazon, how to market a blog, and keep audience interest, etc.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Nikita Gupta, MBA, is a writer, author, blogger, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Nikita is globally known for her multicultural lifestyle blog, Growing Up Gupta. In which she shares stories of interracial/intercultural dating and marriage, multiracial and multicultural parenting, fusion recipes, book reviews, culture, and more. Growing Up Gupta led her to author: Habits of Successful Career Nomads, the Art of Interracial Dating. I’m Dating, Indian Now What?, I Love Masala Me, Love That Defies Boundaries, A Quick Guide To Indian Clothing For Women, Men, Kids, and more. Nikita also partnered with Inkidzco (www.inkidz.com) to create the first America Black History box for kids (proceeds go to charity) and Yahoo to create more awareness around systematic racial inequality and the importance of allyship.
As a result of the pandemic, Nikita launched a multicultural family design store called I Love Masala Me (www.zazzle.com/store/growingupgupta) based on her diverse children’s book. She has been a featured contributor for Good Morning America, BBC Radio, the Lily/Washington Post, Huffington Post, The Times of India, Brown Girl Magazine, South Asian Buzz, The Parent Voice Magazine, Multicultural Kids Blogs (in which she is a board member), Multiracial Family Man, among others. She has also been featured on podcasts with Indian-Interracial Marriage, Multiracial Family Man, Invisible India, and more.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I have a patent for a hair design that I created when I was an undergrad. I never envisioned myself becoming a blogger, author, writer, entrepreneur or sharing my life to help others like I do today. I thought I would use my MBA to thrive at Energy Sales which I had been recognized for throughout my corporate career for being exceptional at.
