Life & Work with Theresa Holt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Holt.

Hi Theresa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved to clean as long as I can remember, as a child family would love to have me over to help around the house, I just loved making things pretty that’s just the best way for me to describe it. So in 99, I started a business, I started as just residential only, and one day my late husband brought me a computer home, I then decided to go back to school again. And today, I contract all over North Carolina. I subcontract most of my work out to women-owned businesses. My passion for cleaning grows by the day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting up, being a wife and mother as well as being a woman-owned biz. I had to prove myself. So many times, I couldn’t be home for my kids growing up. I had to go the extra mile. But my kids have been great. They both understood I just wanted to give them a better life.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Today we contract with the government as well as commercial cleaning. During the pandemic, I expanded into fogging and disinfectant services as well. I meet every customer in person. I also make sure I visit every job site once a week.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We are now taking the steps to expand our commercial-based cleaning into larger cities in North Carolina, one of the things I hear from large companies are the contractors never visit their businesses. No matter if my name is anywhere on a contract, I’m coming for my customers.
