Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Norris.
Hi Aaron, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Well, it started when I was younger; mom was a cosmetology student and so was my older brother, but back in the day frequent visits to the barbershop were getting too expensive. So my mom bought me my first pair of clippers, after having a bald head for almost half of my younger years I was eager to learn! Fast forward to my college years I quickly became the team / School barber as soon as my teammates found out I knew how to cut hair. I Played College Soccer at Mount olive and graduated with a graphic design degree with a minor in marketing!
A couple of years after college I tried to find a job in my collegiate field but was unsuccessful for some time but one thing always remained…and that was me cutting hair.
2 years after college the light bulb came on and I had decided to pursue my barber career over at wake tech barber School, it was there where my true entrepreneur side came alive! Using my skills sets from college to showcase & promote my skills.
The back story of my digital medium talents, back in the day when all our family got together me and some of my cousins would create these “themed movies” and it was my job to film and edit these projects so that the family could enjoy it at the end of the visit.
That being said while in barber school, I knew that the best way to gain exposure and network with more people was through marketing.
Which in return has gotten me a few sponsorships/ collabs as well as my opportunity to work at misterpompadour! Raleighs Top Men’s Barber lounge.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road. But there was a lot of time spent on the back end. Frequent late-night haircuts, late-night photoshoots, and video editing sessions to afford the right equipment! But as I kept to the grind everything just started falling into place.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Barber/ Freelancer. Freelancing Intels: Photography, Videography, Editing, Marketing yourself. & social media influencer
How do you define success?
I define success as being able to live a comfortable lifestyle, one where being connected to your clients and friends buys your way into higher places and events.
