Today we’d like to introduce you to Tierney Riggs Braddock.
Hi Tierney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for photography, specifically wedding photography, began when I was wedding planning. Even after the photographer was booked, I would look through different photographer’s images simply because I found their work to be inspiring. Something just drew me in. While that wedding did not happen, God used that season to draw me into wedding photography.
At the time, I was a senior in college studying to be an elementary school teacher. Prior to heading back to school for the fall, my mom and I had a random conversation about what I would do if I wasn’t going to be a teacher. I mentioned to her that I thought it would be so neat to be a wedding photographer. She responded with how she could totally see me doing photography and being really good at that. Something about the conversation lit a fire within me. I started researching how to use a camera and received a Canon Rebel for Christmas that year. From there, Tierney Riggs Photography was born.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road for me. Mary Marantz, who I consider to be one of my photography mentors, would always say “Slow growth equals strong roots.” That is exactly how my business has gone. Photography is very much a creative career, however there is so much more to making it a career then taking photos. You have to learn the business side of things to see success, and that’s something that did not come naturally to me at all. Learning that side of things took a lot of time and work, but it has been so worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a wedding photographer who serves my TR Couples by giving them a stress-free photography experience. I do this by preparing them for each step of the wedding process from the engagement session to the delivery of their wedding album and making them feel comfortable in front of the camera so that they can have timeless, genuine images that capture their wedding day in its entirety.
I am most proud of how we have crafted the TR Wedding Experience over the years. It’s enabled us to form genuine relationships with our couples so that we can serve them well during their season of wedding planning and beyond.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Ultimately, serving our TR couples well is what matters most. The season of engagement and wedding planning is SO fleeting, and I want our couples to enjoy and savor every aspect of it. We truly value providing our couples with a stress-free experience and with images that they will savor for years to come.
