Daily Inspiration: Meet Sophia and Bianca Ferranti

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia and Bianca Ferranti.

Hi Sophia and Bianca, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started Cheeky Rose with the goal to share our passion, creativity, and dream of being our own boss in hopes to inspire everyone to follow their own dreams. Our idea blossomed during the height of the Covid pandemic quarantine when there was a major mask shortage. We bought sewing machines and started making masks in an effort to help more individuals obtain them when they were few and far between. Once masks became more readily available to the public, we sat back and thought about what else we could make that truly resonated with us and who we are and that’s when aprons and scrunchies came to our minds! Cooking is a huge part of our culture (we are half Italian and Dominican) and aprons have been a staple in our house since we could remember. Each family member has their own designated apron for when we cook together! The name of our business is inspired by the heart of our family Charlotte Rose, Sophia’s daughter. We call her “cheeky little girl” because of her sass, bold personality and she never hesitates to tell you how she feels! Our goal was to inspire people to create memories, traditions, and conversations with the ones they love through our products, so bold patterns are our thing! We want people to see our products and spark a conversation! I’ve always had a knack for random sewing projects so our business really ties in to my love for arts and crafts and lets me have the artistic freedom I crave.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road much how starting any business can be like. In the beginning, we struggled with identifying who our ideal clients were and how we could truly showcase who we are through our products. With us being sisters, we have differing opinions on a lot of things and both have our own unique tastes so coming together to create a brand that was a little bit of both of us was an obstacle for sure. Working from two different locations can also be difficult at times but we have managed to make it work! We are constantly navigating through the hardships of owning a business but they only help us learn and grow even more!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Bianca: I am the retail queen lol. I spent 10 years in retail for a big box store and learned all avenues of the business with visual merchandising being my expertise. Right now I am currently a Store Manager at a local boutique which I love! I am known for my true eye for merchandising and product placement as well as the creatives behind color stories, patterns/prints, and names of all our products. I am most proud of stepping out of my comfort zone and starting a business alongside my sister. My bold personality and strong work ethic set me apart!

Sophia: I am a Dental Assistant by trade but currently work as an Administrative Coordinator for an environmental company. I love my job for many reasons, but specifically because I am able to work from home and be present for my almost 5-year-old daughter Charlotte Rose! I am most proud of how hard I hustle and always aim for bigger and better things. I’m known for my honestly, dependability, and my random, outgoing personality!

What does success mean to you?
By the relationships you build with your customers/community/other local small businesses. It’s all about quality over quantity for us! Being authentically YOU. By the impact you have on others around you. We love seeing our reoccurring customers at pop-ups and when they tell us how much they love their scrunchies or how the apron they picked out was the perfect gift for a significant other. That’s how we know we have been successful! We enjoy all the conversations we get to have no matter how big or small and that’s why we do what we do!

Pricing:

  • Aprons (full size and half) $20-$35
  • Scrunchies $6.50-$15
  • Kitchen Boas $27
