Today we’d like to introduce you to Tam Mix.
Hi Tam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Hi, I’m Tam! In 2012 my husband purchased my first camera and I’ve been capturing images of love and light since then. My professional photography business started out as T.M.i.X (Turning Moments into Xpressions) Photography then evolved into what is now Cre8ive Mix Media. I am currently undergoing another rebranding for my photography brand that will tie into my personal brand that I started in 2018… Details are soon to come on that!
Speaking of, in 2018 I started a blog entitled “This is Tam” where I encourage others to live the most content life that God has graced them with. This is Tam has evolved into my personal brand where I share my life’s journey with all who would like to join me. Of course, in every journey they are highs and lows, along with the many highs of my life’s journey, there came a major low in 2020 when I was diagnosed with infertility and was told that the road to parenthood for my husband and I would be difficult. I began to share our story in October of 2020 and have gained a wealth of support from other women and couples within the infertility community (shout out to all my Fertility Warriors!).
All in all, I have a passion and gifting to encourage and love others. Whether that is through capturing beautiful images of them that they can cherish or through written words to remind them that despite everything their portion has a purpose!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For me, things have been like an ocean, calm in some spots but chopping and hard in others. My main struggle has been believing in myself! I struggle with wanting to present things to others in their most perfect state and I’m learning that is not always possible. Feelings of inadequacy are real! “Are these pictures good enough?” “Will my clients be satisfied?” “Will anyone even read my blog post this month?”
To be honest, I get in my own way a lot. I think if I had more confidence, I would be more consistent and probably much further along with the goals I have in mind.
However, despite my own feelings that I have toward myself, I have been blessed to be surrounded by people who believe in me and support me. My husband being the number one person to always show support all the way down to my closest friends who are always willing to share a post or choose me to be their family photographer. Without them, I would have given up a long time ago.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My specialty is love and light! My photography style is bright and moody. I want you to feel the images. I love capturing couples, families, children and I’ve recently fallen in love with capturing brand images for influencers, entrepreneurs, etc.
I think what makes me stand out is my love for people. When you leave my session, I want you to walk away feeling good!
When it comes to my writing, I love to tell a story! Again, I want my readers to feel what I’m saying. I write as if I’m talking to you and it’s my desire that by the end of the post you feel empowered and encouraged to keep going on your personal life journey!
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would probably be summers at my grandmother’s house. I learned how to drive on back-country roads at the age of 8. My cousins and I would spend all day playing outside and would be forced to come inside. Even down to helping my grandfather plant is a garden one year, which he still says was his best harvest to date because of me. Yeah, summers at Grandma Grace’s were the best!
