Today we’d like to introduce you to Tenisha Dunlap.
Hi Tenisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, I’m Tenisha Dunlap, an avid and passionate photographer who enjoys being in front of the camera as much as behind it. I’m an NC Portrait Photographer & I’ve been capturing real laughter, real smiles, & real emotions for 10 years and I’ve had the pleasure of photographing over 100 families! I specialize in Lifestyle Portraits; Family, Children, Maternity, Engagements, Events, & Wedding Photography with a focus on natural and candid images.
I started out by taking pictures at my local church which eventually lead to starting a business and I haven’t put down the camera since! Recently, I opened my first photography studio in Asheboro, N.C and I am thankful that I can now provide my clients with a choice of studio photography or an on-location photoshoot.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Along the journey of entrepreneurship you will face difficulties but what makes you stronger is how you face and get through them. You have to have a strong mindset and understand that some days and weeks are going to be great and some are going to be a challenge but you never give up; I’ve learned to find or even make a solution to the problem.

I am an NC Portrait Photographer. I specialize in Lifestyle Portraits; Family, Children, Maternity, Engagements, Events, & Wedding Photography with a focus on natural and candid images.
I am most proud of my photography studio that has been open for over 3 years. It’s allowed me to continue to capture photos during the fall and winter seasons. What sets me apart from others is that I march to the beat of my own drum. Photography is art, so when I started to focus only on how my art is created, I became a much better photographer.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about our city is the different background culture.
