Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Cope.
Hi Courtney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Hello! My name is Courtney. I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 20 years. Currently, I own two businesses, work full time with clients, train students and I’m also a single mother. I’m a very busy lady lol! I was a hairstylist for 23 years, in 2015 I decided I wanted to add a different service to offer my clients, so I became certified in permanent cosmetics. At that time, I didn’t realize the impact I would have on so many women’s lives, and the impact it would have on me. Permanent cosmetics is truly a life-changing experience. Building confidence, and making people feel beautiful is so rewarding. My passion for this industry is so strong that I decided to pour my heart into it full-time. I’m continuously training and studying. So far, I have received 10 certificates of course completions. I am Board Certified by the American Academy of Micropigmentation. I have been trained and coached by some of the world’s most renowned master artists in the industry. I am always striving to learn more and grow; I want to be the best me I can be for my business and clients. My brand name Shero actually stands for a ” Woman Hero “. A woman that is admired, and idealized for her courage and achievements. I have met so many of these amazing women throughout my long career. They have all inspired me with their strong spirit and personal stories. They say if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. I fully agree with that statement.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been several challenges in my career, actually beyond several challenges. Opening a business in the middle of a separation, moving home with my parents all while raising my infant daughter alone, and trying to keep it together, including my sanity. to start with. Things were hard in the beginning. And it seemed like obstacle after obstacle were to come. There were many times where I thought I would have to close my business, and maybe lose everything I had worked so hard for. But somehow, I alone seemed to make it scratching and clawing my way to keep moving forward. There were times that I even counted change to buy groceries for a few days. I lost my favorite car at one point. I had to make a difficult decision to keep a roof over our head and keep the business running. The expensive car payment had to go. Many sleepless nights. Fast forward 17 years later and I’m a 6-figure earner, self-made businesswoman. No one helped me, I just worked my butt off and never gave up to get to where I am today. How did this even happen lol? I ask myself that question all the time. All I can say is extra hard work and dedication, believing in myself, not giving up, and working towards your goals. Even if it seems like it may never happen. I am the true definition of a “Shero” which is what I decide to name my new business. Shero Beauty- to represent all of the strong independent women and mothers out there working hard to make their dreams come true.
