Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Sellars.
Hi Tiffany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Real Estate journey started in Charlotte, NC when Real Estate was at another all-time for the investment industry. In 2008 the when market took an unforeseen dip investing became a challenge and selling homes was at rapid decline. So, I began another part of my real estate journey, this time in commercial real estate (multi-family industry). Having the new opportunity to work in commercial real estate gave me a different aspect of learning the ends of out. This time in particular it included stating vacant apartments to entice them to lease or even organizing designing new models for the growing industry. Immediately fell in love. Adding colors and patterns blending textures and fabrics gave me instant joy when prospects would fall in love with my decor choices to select their new place to call home. So, branching off to my own staging and design has been the biggest highlight of my career journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely Not but has been truly a joy of fulfillment. When I started my own design business in 2017, I was still working in corporate America. Working juggling both as full-time jobs while ensuring all employees and clients were receiving my full attention became unhealthy and losing focus on the real journey. Leaving my corporate job sometimes after 7 pm and finishing a stage job sometimes late as 2 am really caused me to set a plan to focus solely on my growing company in the new Seller’s market.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Being a native of Durham and relocating back in 2013 has truly been an experience. I love the culture Durham is growing into. Growing up you had so much division of race and culture and really seeing the growth turning into a visual culture that all can appreciate is true “Bull City” love.
I’m not a fan of large corporations tearing down the history of Durham adding apartment buildings and office buildings that don’t match the skyline of the city. Even though it’s a part of the ever-changing real estate market it would be great to incorporate the vintage buildings with a modern or urban flair.
