Life & Work with Shooter Trav

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shooter Trav.

Hi Shooter, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I first got into cameras when I went to NCAT. I majored in Broadcast Production. After I graduated, I applied for a bunch of media jobs (never heard back from any of them), lol. So, I decided to start my own production company called ‘Carney Boy Production.’

I shot my first two music videos with my younger cousin who rapped at the time with my iPhone 4 which shot 720p. After putting those videos out I ended up getting paid $75 to shoot a music video, which I shot with my iPhone. I didn’t have the money initially to purchase a camera so I used what I had. That 720p was like having 4k today.

I was able to save some money up and bought my first camera, a Canon T2i. Once I got that I was In the ball game. I started getting booked for video gigs regularly after that. I would film at the local clubs, film at events, football games, whoever needed a camera I was there recording.

In 2013, I decided to take my talents to Los Angeles. I lived out there for a couple of years trying to break into the industry. I have so many stories from living in LA.

In 2019, I decided two start my blog on Instagram called Media House News. It’s a blog thats centered around covering video news. I started doing interviews on YouTube in 2020 during the pandemic where I sit down and talk with different creatives. I’m trying to take the Media House brand global

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m from the country, a dirt road. The road has never been all the way smooth, you feel me? It’s always beauty in the struggle though. When you don’t come from a rich family, trying to find the funds to fund your dreams is one of the biggest struggles. I’ve worked in warehouses, call centers, and temp jobs to make it happen. One of my dreams was to get out of the nine to five life and work on my own hours. I was able to make that a reality after putting in years of man-hours.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a video director and CEO/owner of Media House news. I’m known for creating video content from music videos, commercials, films, documentaries.

Media House is the brand. I created a blog to create a place for video directors to get recognized.

What separates me from anyone is the amount of hours one is really willing to put into their dreams. Even when you not getting paid, you still have to go hard and really want it. I’ve been going for 10 years nonstop. Most don’t really want it, they just talk it. You got to want to win.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Raleigh is a beautiful city. I’ve been living in Raleigh for years now and I’m still discovering new things within the city. I’m loving the growth of the city and where it’s headed. It’s all love out here.
