Inspiring Conversations with Lauren Schroeder of FAB Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Schroeder.

Hi Lauren, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a Licensed Esthetician, Permanent Makeup Artist and Founder of FAB Studio. I moved to the area in 2018 from Los Angeles, California where I spent 30 years developing my skills as a holistic skin care expert, while guiding my clients to healthy lifestyle choices for their skin and overall health.

In my early 20’s, my skin began to show damage from sun exposure due to many years of water skiing without sun protection. Not knowing what it was, I asked my Esthetician to “get rid of it.” He explained that it was irreversible, and there was nothing that could be done for it. This news was very upsetting to say the least, and in my opinion, unacceptable. The event prompted me to enroll in a cosmetology program. After a couple of years working as an esthetician, I went to work for a world-renowned Plastic Surgeon who at the time was referred to as “Top Liposuction doctor in L.A.” I specialized in post and pre-op Endermologie (lymphatic drainage) treatments, catering to all the celebrities. Working with the body non-invasively was a valuable experience providing me knowledge that I still apply in my practice today. Exposure to the medical arena also granted me a first-hand glimpse of the “quick fix” modalities in skin and beauty treatments and their overall affects.

During that time, my 4-year-old son became diabetic. The event provoked a quest to find true health and healing. The journey began with incorporating proper nutrition, aromatherapy, and chemical-free products into our home life. I began experimenting on myself and the skin “damage” I was told I had to live with for the rest of my life. I eliminated chemical-laden products from my arsenal replacing them with pure ingredients known to feed the skin. I also became heavily motivated by the power of essential oils and their ability to transport nutrients to cells, therefore, promoting the body/skin to heal. My takeaway was that the body has an amazing ability to heal itself. It is up to us to listen to it and know what it needs to facilitate that. This is when my career took a turn and I have never looked back. Not only did I heal my own skin NATURALLY, but I am also able to share my story with other like-minded clients looking for natural solutions.

I opened my first business in Encino, California naming it “Healing Essentials”.  Our services and products promoted my new philosophy of healing the body wholly by identifying and working from the root of the cause. There is no “quick fix” when it comes to true health and healing. My next business “Natural and Pure” opened several years later. “Pure” represents the products and what we put into our body, “Natural” is for how I approach my clients esthetically. In 2015 I incorporated Microblading and Permanent Makeup services into my business. We are now called FAB (face.art.beauty) while still applying the same natural and pure concepts.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
28 years into my career I can say it is smoother than it has ever been. Moving to North Carolina is a big factor. The atmosphere and clients are ideal for anyone in this field. My biggest challenge is learning a new skill (social media) and keeping up with it for business. To me, this is a far less struggle than operating a business in Los Angeles as a single mother which makes me very grateful for where I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of FAB Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
FAB Studio is located in Wake Forest. We offer an array of services from Permanent Makeup, Facials, Lash Services, Massage, Makeup, and Waxing. We take a natural, holistic approach to our services and product recommendations.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memories came from living in Maryland as a kid (until I was 12) and running free in nature, playing outside from morning until sundown. No worries, cell phones or computers. Just living in the moment.
